Having little knowledge of the area, we arrived late, but our guide kindly came back to get us, allowing us to join the group. We were pleasantly surprised by an invitation to attend a concert in the Yale steeple. The group decided to go, and our guide accommodated this change before continuing with the tour. Despite the heat and the additional noise from a night market, it was overall an excellent experience. I would highly recommend it.
Lia, our tour guide, was outstanding. With a private tour for our group of 21, she was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this experience to other groups. It was a fantastic way to explore Yale in the evening.
The tour was scheduled during a Friday night market, making it difficult to find the guide. From there, the experience worsened. It was hard to hear him at times, and the tour seemed improvised, focusing more on Yale than its ghostly aspects. He pointed out buildings incorrectly, shared false information, and we didn't visit the promised sites. We were taken to an unrelated area of the campus, and he appeared to be searching for facts online as we progressed. The group started with nine participants but ended with only three.
The tour guide was pleasant, but I felt unsure about his confidence in his knowledge of the area. It turned out to be more about admiring a beautiful building and criticizing the architect for using native American burial grounds. Overall, the experience lacked depth and was uninteresting. It seemed like the guide focused more on his poor Vincent Price impression than on sharing information. I would have preferred a more reliable source for engaging content.
The guide appeared timid and soft-spoken, which made him seem somewhat inexperienced. It didn't meet our expectations, especially since we were disappointed it wasn't a ghost tour, focusing more on architecture instead.
The Yale tour was quite memorable, though I would have preferred if the cemetery had been accessible. The stories shared by the guide were interesting, yet he didn't appear to be a local.
The leader of the Ghost walk was soft spoken and did not use a microphone. While nice, they lacked engagement and entertainment value, making it somewhat tedious to endure. I had high hopes but ultimately felt let down.
The Yale campus tour was enjoyable and offered a relaxed atmosphere. We visited the Secret Society buildings, Harkness Tower, and the graveyard gates, and it was nice to read about the history and stories related to these sites afterward.
This tour earned a 3-star rating for several reasons. First, the customer service was lacking: I called to inform them we'd be arriving about 4 to 5 minutes late for a 7:30 PM tour, but the person I spoke with was unhelpful. They stated that they wouldn't wait, wouldn’t allow us to join along the route, and did not provide options for rescheduling if we missed it, even though they mentioned that being "five minutes late might be okay." Upon arrival at 7:32 PM, we found half the group still missing. The guide then informed us they would wait another 7 minutes, which contradicted what I had been told earlier. The main issue was our guide, who was awkward and soft-spoken. He appeared to lack basic factual accuracy regarding important details and events, such as the Stanley Milgram experiments. The tour wasn’t spooky or engaging, as he failed to explain the significance behind the haunted locations. It felt disappointing, as he seemed unfamiliar with anything beyond a script he couldn’t recall effectively. On the positive side, the tour locations and duration were enjoyable. I wish there had been deeper information and context about the history and relevance of each site. A more knowledgeable and charismatic guide could have made this an extraordinary experience. I believe other guides may be excellent, which is why many people enjoy the tours, but unfortunately, ours fell short and felt less like a ghost tour and more like someone awkwardly sharing basic information after a brief review.
Our guide arrived late and lacked both expertise and professionalism. His delivery was disorganized, and he struggled with group management in the city. For instance, when loud bells rang from the chapel, he kept speaking normally as if we could still hear him. He often began his narration at landmarks before most of the group arrived, causing us to miss important information. Additionally, many sites seemed unrelated to anything spooky or ghostly. A loud and intrusive patron dominated the group, and the guide failed to address it. Overall, this tour was a disappointment, and we left midway through.
