The village visit provided an excellent historical overview of Fiji. The hike through the garden of the sleeping giant was impressive. Our driver and partial tour guide, Donald, was very accommodating and even stopped at shops for us to purchase souvenirs.
Visiting the Village felt like a waste of money. We were pressured to buy souvenirs from every vendor, the market was quite average, and there was no opportunity to grab snacks. The water we received was warm, and overall, I was very let down; the tour ended up costing us $540.
Our experience was excellent. The driver picked us up from our hotel right on time, and the van was comfortable with air conditioning. With just our family on the tour, we had the freedom to explore each spot at our own pace. The Garden of the Sleeping Giant was stunning, but comfortable shoes and insect repellent are a must. The hike to the lookout was steep and rocky, yet the view at the top was breathtaking. The village tour was enjoyable—bringing small bills for trinket purchases from family tables is advisable; our guide was very knowledgeable. The fruit market was somewhat lackluster, and we only had a brief visit to the temple, but we saw a lot of Nadi and the nearby areas from the van. While the driver didn’t offer any commentary, which was unexpected, he navigated well, and the ride was relaxing, so I would still recommend this tour.
A visit to Nadi isn't complete without this experience. Arrange it via the hotel tour desk. Pickup is at 5pm in a small coach. Once at the village, a guide provides insights into village life, showcasing pottery, tapa cloth crafting, basket weaving, and other local activities. A delicious lovo buffet dinner is served, followed by a meke performance and additional entertainment. You'll return to the hotel before 9pm.
It was fascinating to explore the town, temples, and village. However, I did miss out on the part of the tour that included the overlook. Don't forget to bring socks for the temple visits.
The half-day Nadi discovery tour was excellent. Our driver was informative and friendly, and the van was comfortable for the six of us. We experienced a variety of sights, including the town, a temple, shopping, a market, and a genuine village visit with a great guide. Additionally, a portion of the tour's cost supports the village and its residents.
We had an excellent private tour with our guide Jason, who picked us up at the cruise port, which justified the extra fee. Our first destination was a vibrant Hindu temple where he provided sarongs to cover our legs. The temple was stunning and not crowded yet, as it was early. We then visited the Nadi markets filled with colorful fruits and vegetables, followed by the Sleeping Giant Orchid Farm, where well-marked paths offered a peaceful experience. We enjoyed a refreshing tropical juice there. Our final stop was the quaint oldest village in Nadi. At every location, we never felt rushed. The entire tour lasted about five hours before Jason returned us to the cruise port. I realized afterward that we forgot to take a picture with him, which I regret.
Our guide Mohammad was exceptional. He had a charming approach while sharing insights about Nadi's history and culture. He exceeded our expectations and was truly understanding when we arrived late.
The highlight of this tour was our driver, Navi. He was undoubtedly the best, offering extensive knowledge and a fantastic sense of humor that made the experience feel personal. Choosing anyone else would be a loss.
The experience was incredibly informative and offered a diverse perspective on the lives of the other islands and the history of the original Fijians. Anand, our guide, was knowledgeable and accommodating; I couldn't be more satisfied.
