• The itinerary includes a visit to the impressive Mysore Palace, where you will spend an hour exploring this Indo-Saracenic architectural marvel, characterized by a blend of Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic features. The palace is a three-story stone building, featuring marble domes and a 145-foot tall five-story tower. During the guided tour, you will explore the Public Hall, Private Hall, Dolls Pavilion, and the Royal Wedding Hall. • The schedule continues with a trip to the historical town of Sri Rangapatnam, which served as the capital of Tipu Sultan, known as the Tiger of Mysore, in the 18th century. You will learn about his life, including his legendary encounter with a tiger, his courageous battles against the British, his administrative reforms, and his groundbreaking use of rockets in warfare, which influenced British technology during World War I. We will also visit Dariya Daulat Bagh, the Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan, designed in Indo-Saracenic style and adorned with stunning murals illustrating Tipu’s conflicts with the British. A notable highlight is the painting “Storming of Srirangapatna” by Sir Robert Ker Porter, depicting the defeat of Tipu’s forces on May 4, 1799. • The tour includes a stop at Colonel Bailey Dungeon, the infamous prison where Tipu held several British officers during the conflict, with intriguing stories to share. • Next, we will explore India’s first sand sculpture museum, created by noted sand sculptor Gowri. It took four months and 115 loads of sand to construct, featuring 16 themes with a total of 150 sculptures. • The itinerary also features a visit to St. Philomena Church, established in 1840 as St. Joseph Chavez and later renamed. Originally a modest church, it was expanded in 1933 during the reign of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, and was built to serve the needs of the European community in Mysore at the time.
