Full day by comfortable coach — carriage tour of historic Charleston, harbor cruise with lunch, and visit to Boone Hall Plantation.
This day trip from Myrtle Beach provides a thorough exploration of Charleston’s highlights. Board a comfortable motor coach for the journey to Charleston and kick off your day with a horse-drawn carriage tour through the historic district with Palmetto Carriage Works.
After the carriage ride, there’s a chance to shop at the Historic Market, time permitting. Enjoy a scenic harbor cruise aboard the Carolina Belle, which includes a boxed lunch from a local favorite. The day concludes with a visit to Boone Hall Plantation, recognized as the number one plantation by USA Today. The trip takes care of all the details, allowing you to focus on the charm and history of Charleston.

If you have a disability, be aware that reaching the activities requires quite a walk. I specifically inquired about having time to visit the market after the horse ride, and was assured we would. However, upon finishing the ride, we found our phones blowing up with calls from our guide looking for us, which was frustrating. Many on the tour struggled to walk, especially since we didn’t dismount until 11:15. Additionally, when we arrived at the harbor ride, we asked for directions and were simply told to proceed down the sidewalk, leaving us unsure of where to go next.
Wendy, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. The history she provided was truly fascinating. I highly recommend this experience. Additionally, our lovely horse, Jordon, did an excellent job pulling the carriage.
Some individuals with mobility challenges struggled with the extensive walking required. The bus seats were unexpectedly uncomfortable. Overall, it was a nice day, and we appreciated the experience, though having more time at the market would have been great.
Our hotel pickup was seamless. The limo bus was fantastic, and our driver was very accommodating. We especially loved the carriage ride, though the Harbor tour was enjoyable as well. The box lunch was great, and while Boone Plantation was pleasant, we felt we could have used more time in Charleston.
I was picked up on time, and the day was well spent. The carriage ride was superb, and visiting the Boone Plantation was both informative and enjoyable.
The guide was excellent—very knowledgeable and approachable. He addressed all our inquiries and provided a great understanding of how history shaped contemporary Charleston.
The bus ride, carriage ride, and visit to Boone plantation were enjoyable, but the last-minute cancellation of the cruise left us disappointed. We had to spend an extra two hours at the market after already being there for half an hour, and there simply wasn't enough to keep us occupied. We were informed about a potential refund for the canceled cruise, but we haven't received anything yet.
The bus journey to Charleston was quite comfortable and soothing. The itinerary was well-organized, and we particularly enjoyed the carriage ride. The boat tour provided great information, and lunch was enjoyable. Boone Hall Plantation was beautiful.
The horse and carriage ride was outstanding. The harbor cruise was enjoyable, but the lunch left much to be desired. Boone Plantation was exceptional.
This tour doesn’t truly represent Charleston; it’s more of a Boone Plantation experience. The day starts early at 6:30 am, with the bus potentially arriving by 7:00 am, leaving no time for coffee as shops are closed. We had to skip our Charleston Carriage ride just to get coffee. When we arrived, Charleston was essentially not open for business, with shops still setting up. The boat tour was decent but didn’t really immerse us in Charleston. The bus ride lacked any narration, so we received no information during our travel. We booked this last minute, expecting a guided experience, but it didn’t justify the nearly $400 we spent. Seasoned travelers may find it disappointing. Other passengers shared similar frustrations about missing out on truly experiencing Charleston; choosing between coffee or a carriage ride was upsetting, especially since we were picked up before any cafes opened. This tour would benefit from a later start, dropping the Boone Plantation segment, and offering a genuine Charleston tour instead. Greater opportunities to visit churches, grab a bite, or shop while learning about the city's history and culture would have enhanced the experience. In my view, locals from the Carolinas seemed to enjoy it, but perhaps our expectations were shaped by our travel experience. The Boone Plantation was enjoyable, yet I would have preferred more time in Charleston.
