This market is among the oldest in the country, showcasing a variety of goods such as fruits, meats, sweets, pottery, souvenirs, and antiques. A guide is available to assist with planning your visit. • The Nizwa Fort, originating from the 17th century during the Al Ya’rubi dynasty, is built atop the remnants of a castle from the 9th century. The fort has been well-preserved, with rooms arranged to reflect their historical use, featuring informative displays throughout. Notable areas include the prisoner room and a section detailing the fort's wartime use of dates as weapons. Climbing the central tower rewards visitors with impressive views. • Jebel Akhdar, or the Green Mountains, is one of Oman’s most picturesque regions and a part of the Hajar Mountains. Named for its lush terraced gardens leading to the Saiq Plateau, this area was historically only accessible to donkeys. It is rich in diverse fruit cultivation, including pomegranates, apricots, apples, olives, grapes, roses, peaches, and walnuts. Popular hiking trails are found in Wade Bani Habib, Shrejah, Al Ain, and Al Aqur. • Birkat Al Mouz, also known as Birkat al Mawz, features significant ruins in Oman. This site contains two sets of ruins, a large banana plantation, and beautiful natural surroundings. It is also notable for housing an ancient Falaj irrigation system, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
