Mumbai to the Taj Mahal in a day — flights, car, and guide — Day trips things to do in Mumbai

A long but possible day: pre-dawn flight to Delhi, private car to Agra, the Taj plus the Agra Fort, evening flight back to Mumbai.

A long but possible day. Pre-dawn pickup from your Mumbai address, a morning flight to Delhi, and a private car to Agra — about three hours by expressway. Inside the Taj complex you'll have a guide and roughly two and a half hours: enough to walk the gardens, photograph the mausoleum from each cardinal direction, and step inside the dome.

Lunch at a fort-view restaurant, then the Agra Fort in the afternoon, and an evening flight back to Mumbai. Door-to-door, you'll be home before midnight. Both flights, the private vehicle, all entry tickets, and a licensed Agra guide are included.

Note that the Taj Mahal is closed every Friday. • After lunch, the itinerary includes a visit to Agra Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), constructed by Emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D. This expansive fort, made from red sandstone, features architectural designs that combine Hindu and Central Asian styles. The fort’s courtyards, mosques, and private chambers reflect the history of the Mughal Empire. • If time allows, there will be an opportunity for shopping in Agra, known for its exquisite handicrafts, particularly marble and softstone inlay work.
