Monument Valley is simply breathtaking and truly remarkable.
I have limited experience riding horses from about fifteen years ago, but this tour truly changed that. The guides were exceptional, offering not only guidance through the valley but also fascinating information about the stunning natural formations and their history. They even helped me understand my horse's behavior—Tanto really just wanted to gallop and eat grass every few minutes. Once I got that, we formed a real connection. Tanto and I tackled the fields together, and I was surprised by how quickly he went from a slow pace to a moderate gallop. I managed to hang on, and the exhilaration was incredible. Now, I find myself contemplating selling my possessions to buy a horse and live in the great outdoors. This memorable ride was part of a father-son trip that I will cherish forever, all thanks to Sacred Monument Tours.
Our experience with Marco and Dillon was fantastic. They were a pleasure to ride with—patient, knowledgeable, and confident, making the ride enjoyable with great conversation. We got an up-close view of the geological features in Monument Valley. The terrain was varied, including some gentle climbs and descents, which made the ride more interesting. The horses were well-trained, easy to handle, and a joy to ride.
The tour provided a pleasant experience for exploring the stunning scenery of Monument Valley. The well-trained horses and supportive guides made both my wife, an experienced rider, and myself, a less experienced one, feel at ease. The ride included four segments of approximately 20 minutes each along sandy paths, complemented by four 10-minute breaks for photos. The route meandered through the terrain near the buttes, enhancing the impression of being in a beautiful, untamed setting rather than just following a flat trail, as some rides might offer. With a maximum of four participants, it felt intimate and personalized. However, the tour is quite pricey, costing over twice as much per person compared to a well-known two-hour ride at Bryce, and just slightly less than a full-day mule trip at the Grand Canyon. I believe it would be a fairer value, and more accessible for families, if priced at half the current rate. Despite the high cost, tips are openly encouraged. While I enjoyed the photo breaks, their duration felt excessive, particularly since riders remained mounted. I selected "Sacred Monument Tours" to gain insights into Navajo history and traditions, but our guide's focus at the first stop primarily revolved around movies filmed in Monument Valley rather than the Navajo culture, even when I asked questions.
Our experience on the Sacred Monument 2-hour horse ride was truly fantastic. The guides, Marco and Dylan, were warm, knowledgeable, and ensured that everyone felt at ease, whether experienced or beginners. Their laid-back demeanor contributed to a calming, enjoyable atmosphere. The trail itself was breathtaking, with beautiful surroundings that created a serene and almost enchanting vibe, allowing us to relax and fully appreciate the experience. It struck the perfect balance between tranquility and adventure.
Marco, Dylan, and Dwayne guided our tour, and it was wonderful! Our small group included just us and another couple. I rode Navy while my partner was on Tonto, and we had the time of our lives—my partner can’t stop raving about it. If you plan to visit Monument Valley, especially if you're staying at The View, this is the tour to take. Just a heads up, you can park at the stables; we walked because we weren't certain. I couldn’t recommend it more. The guides were fantastic, always ensuring we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves on the horses and snapping as many pictures as we wanted. It was the best tour we've experienced.
This was the highlight of our road trip through the western United States.
The entire experience was exceptional. The horses are well cared for, and our guide was not only helpful but also very friendly. He captured several photos of us in stunning locations and provided insights about each monument. A big thanks to Dylan!
We experienced some travel stress due to the time difference after coming from Arizona. However, our guide Marco provided an excellent tour. The horses were calm and at ease, making for a delightful riding experience. The ride is conducted solely at a walk.
We enjoyed a two-hour horseback ride to the West Mitten. Our guide, Tashawn, was friendly and provided insights along the way. He also kindly offered to take our photos. The scenery was stunning, so make sure to wear sunscreen and bring water. The stable offers spare cowboy hats or helmets if you’d like to use them.
