A full day in Minneapolis — visit historic caves, take a gangster car photo, priority bus seating provided.
This same-day tour covers two unique experiences in Minneapolis: a visit to the historic caves and a chance to photograph with a vintage 1930 Hudson Essex Gangster Car. Your ticket includes priority seating on the bus for a comfortable ride throughout the day.
While this tour runs year-round, note that the gangster car photo opportunity is seasonal. Ensure you check availability if this experience is a highlight for you. Dress for varied weather as you move between the caves and urban stops.
Reviews
This tour offers an enjoyable way to explore the history of St. Paul, making it appealing for both kids and adults. The narrators add a fun and engaging element to the experience.
The tour was highly informative, and I appreciated learning about the history of all the topics covered. Our guide for the gangster tour was entertaining and clearly knowledgeable.
The Wabasha Cave Tour was truly captivating. Our guide, Luke, brought a lively energy and humor that made the experience both exciting and informative. Learning the history and seeing old photographs was enlightening. Later, we boarded an air-conditioned bus with Brent, who hilariously portrayed gangster Dillinger, maintaining a comedic and knowledgeable demeanor throughout. My only issue was the chilly weather, which made it uncomfortable to stop for photos. Although I wished for more picture stops, given the cold, I ultimately appreciated the tour’s thoroughness. I would suggest this tour to anyone interested in history and crime.
If you find yourself in St. Paul and have even a slight interest in history or mobster tales, the Wabasha Street Caves should be on your list. This tour explores the intriguing Prohibition-era history of the man-made sandstone caves, which once functioned as a speakeasy and a rumored gangster hideout. Our guide was not only well-informed but also very entertaining, combining dramatic narration with a touch of theatrics. The visible bullet holes? Authentic. The ghost stories? Eerie. The atmosphere? Right out of a noir movie. I particularly appreciated how it mixed historical facts with local myths, making the experience immersive and memorable. The St. Paul Gangster Bus Tour is also fantastic. This two-hour journey highlights the city’s Prohibition-era history, making stops (or quick passes) at notorious gangster locations. Our guide was dressed for the occasion and was both funny and deeply knowledgeable, bringing figures like John Dillinger and Ma Barker to life with style. The bus was comfortable, the stories captivating, and the entire experience felt like stepping into a 1930s crime drama. I highly recommend it for both adults and teens who appreciate a blend of education and entertainment. This is a great choice for anyone who enjoys compelling stories and a touch of intrigue while sightseeing.
The experience was enjoyable, engaging, and educational, though it might benefit from being about 30 minutes shorter. Our guide, Ryan, was entertaining and truly enthusiastic about his work, which enhanced our enjoyment even more.
We had a fantastic experience. Mary, our cave tour guide, was outstanding, engaging, and knowledgeable. Similarly, our bus tour guide, Louise, was also entertaining and informative. We loved exploring the sights and the history of St. Paul's gangsters.
I was surprised to learn that St Paul served as a refuge for gangsters in the past. The tour is filled with fascinating stories about the lives of various gangsters. Additionally, we saw many parts of St Paul, which was a pleasant surprise. Our bus guide was very knowledgeable about both the city and its history, and the guide at the caves was also excellent. I had uncertain expectations about the caves, but it was intriguing to learn about their history and the businesses that have utilized them throughout the years. The cave acoustics are remarkable. If you're interested in stories of gangster life and corrupt law enforcement in St Paul, this tour is ideal.
The cave tour and our guide were truly excellent and very enjoyable. The gangster bus tour provided a comfortable air-conditioned bus with a restroom, and the guide was both knowledgeable and engaging. However, we believe that the tour would have been significantly improved if it had lasted one hour instead of two, with some of the information trimmed down to fit that timeframe. With too much content and limited sights, it felt lengthy. Condensing the experience into one hour would make it a fantastic tour that we would gladly recommend to friends. Given the current two-hour length, we would be hesitant to suggest the bus tour, though we would definitely encourage the cave tour.
The gangster tour lasts for two hours on the bus, which comfortably takes you around without stopping at any specific locations. It was both interesting and informative.
The cave and gangster tours were fantastic and filled with fascinating information. The cave rooms are preserved from their days as speakeasies and clubs during and after prohibition. I expected the cave tour to involve more walking through the caves, but it was quite limited in that sense. However, the guide for the gangster tour was incredibly knowledgeable about St Paul's history and the prohibition era. I would definitely recommend these tours to both locals and visitors in the St Paul area.
