Our water tour was truly memorable. We began by exploring the glacier lake, then rafted through level III rapids. Leo, our guide, had extensive knowledge of the area and water, and we were also supported by Cesar.
Although we experienced a rocky beginning due to some miscommunication, our float trip with guides Cesar and Veronica turned out to be fantastic. It's crucial to meet at the shuttle turnaround near the Wrangell visitor center to avoid missing your ride, as cell service is unreliable. Although we were picked up an hour late, Cesar apologized and quickly put us at ease. With a decade of guiding under his belt, we felt secure. After dressing in dry suits and life vests, we paddled on a glacial lake and got to walk on an iceberg, witnessing the stunning glacier melt. We had lunch on another ice chunk while Veronica kayaked alongside us as a safety measure. The rapids were exciting despite the freezing water splashing us. Cesar made sure we felt safe throughout. On the ride back, Veronica shared her inspiring story about guiding in Alaska. The adventure was unforgettable not just for the breathtaking scenery but also thanks to Cesar and Veronica's exceptional guidance. We were also fortunate to see a bald eagle take flight and spot a black bear crossing our path on the way back—definitely a highlight!
