Everything was delightful! We had a guided tour that lasted around six hours, traveling to the Trulli and Matera. Matera is rich in history and has served as a filming location for many movies, including the latest James Bond film, The Passion of the Christ, and Wonder Woman. The storytelling about the lives of the rich and poor in the past, as well as the impact of flooding on residents, was captivating. The Trulli in Alberobello were stunning, with some featuring gardens and parking spaces, all painted white with breathtaking views. During this trip, we also visited Polignano a Mare, which has a beautiful beach and incredible sea vistas. The locals were welcoming and friendly towards travelers.
Travelers should be aware that this tour offers only a driver, not a guide, and lacks any information regarding the cities. We hoped the driver would share insights or recommendations, but he merely left us at a parking lot with very little direction. When we inquired about Alberobello, he stated, “I don’t know anything about it, I’m just a driver.” Overall, this experience did not justify the expense, and we ended up conducting our own research to explore the cities.
The experience was both thorough and informative during a delightful TUK-TUK ride with our highly knowledgeable guide, Vito. The beautiful sites and the fascinating history added to the overall enjoyment.
