This two-hour guided walking tour offers an in-depth look at Matera, one of the world’s oldest cities. Your guide, either Renato or Gaetano, both licensed and passionate about the city, will lead you through its ancient districts, sharing stories of the people who lived in the Sassi and the evolution of life here from the Stone Age to the present.
The tour covers the city's rich history, its architecture, and some notable filming locations, including scenes from films like 007 and The Passion of the Christ. Groups are kept small, with a maximum of 18 participants to ensure a more personal experience. If the tour requires it, radios will be provided to enhance communication throughout the experience.

Visiting in the spring was perfect, and the 4 pm time worked well. The pace was suitable for all ages, and I noticed the guide adjusted the route to accommodate those with canes, avoiding the steep steps.
