Approximate seven hours—visit Chichen Itza and Yaxunah ruins, swim in a cenote, and enjoy a buffet lunch with tequila tasting.
This private guided tour offers a deep dive into two significant Mayan archaeological sites: Chichen Itza, with its restored structures, and the lesser-known Yaxunah ruins, maintained in their natural state. The tour spans around seven hours, allowing ample time to appreciate the history of these sites. Your guide will provide insights into the rich Mayan culture and architecture as you explore.
After the ruins, take a refreshing swim in a sacred cenote — a perfect way to cool off. The excursion also includes a hearty Mexican buffet lunch complemented by a tequila tasting. This is not just a tour; it's an opportunity to support local efforts in preserving the Mayan heritage.
Reviews
The location is incredible. Our guide provided excellent insights into the ancient history. The buffet food was also very enjoyable. Overall, it was a memorable experience that was worth the time spent.
The Amigo agency requires significant improvements. Their website displays all prices in US dollars, but they demanded payments in pesos only or via credit card when boarding the bus. It also failed to mention a separate tax that needed to be paid. I had only dollars in cash and had to arrange with fellow tour members to cover my entrance fee in pesos, offering to pay them back double. The website seems designed to attract American customers without providing clear payment information. I was fortunate to be fluent in Spanish, allowing me to navigate these challenges. They need to clarify that extra fees for entrance must be paid in pesos and highlight that exchange rates only apply with a passport, which I did not want to carry during my trip. This caused me a lot of stress while trying to get my tickets. I am thankful for my language skills, as I can speak five languages.
I appreciate Esther and Rodrigo for providing an excellent tour. Their knowledge about Chichen Itza and Mayan culture was remarkable.
The trip with our guide Daniel and driver Roberta was fantastic. Daniel was very professional and shared extensive knowledge about Chichen Itza. The lunch, particularly the pork tacos, was delicious.
Daniel, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and professional, providing us with an ideal personalized tour. Roberto, our driver, ensured that we traveled safely and efficiently.
This place was terrible. The tour guide treated me horribly because I’m of East Asian descent (Indian) and made me feel very uncomfortable with his questions. He promised me a free Mayan calendar, but it ended up costing $30. There's no way he deserves 5 stars; he should be fired. On the way back, he asked me to give him a 5-star rating, but I refused. I truly hope he doesn't get this job again.
The guides were well-informed about the sites and made the experience enjoyable. Frank and Miguel were friendly, contributing to a fun atmosphere for the entire group. I would recommend this tour.
Our visit to Chichenitza was fantastic, and we appreciated all the insights provided by our guide Frank and driver Miguel. It was an excellent experience that we highly recommend.
The experience was fantastic; our guide Frank provided us with a wealth of information about Mayan history. He really looked after us and proved to be an exceptional tour guide. I highly recommend this tour.
Our private tour led by Frank was a fantastic experience. For those who value supporting local communities, enjoying a personalized pace, and learning the rich history of the Mayan people beyond what's in books, this is the ideal choice. Yaxunah is managed by a community cooperative that shares their insights during the tour. An unexpected highlight was when our guide serenaded us with an original song he composed, performed in Mayan. Jose, our attentive driver, and Frank ensured that we moved at our preferred pace. Having visited Yucatán and Chichen Itza several times, I can confidently say this was my favorite tour.
