This four-hour tour takes you to a cocoa plantation in Rocafuerte, just outside Manta. You'll learn about the rich history of Ecuadorian chocolate and its connection to conservation efforts, dating back to 2007.
Participants will engage in the entire process of chocolate making: collect cocoa beans and create your own chocolate bar. This experience highlights the purity of the cocoa harvested from some of the oldest trees in the region, which have a lineage traced back over 5,300 years. Dress comfortably for a hands-on afternoon, and be ready for a sweet treat at the end.

The tour of the cacao farm was fantastic. We experienced local snacks and fruits, along with a visit to a small chocolate factory where we learned about chocolate production from the trees to hot cocoa and bars. The short walk through the cacao trees allowed us to see the growing pods and harvest, and we even spotted an iguana. The lunch stop was excellent as well. Although our time was limited due to being on a cruise ship, Manta SOS efficiently managed our schedule and returned us to port on time. Thank you, Fernando!
