We were greeted at the Manta cruise port by Chris, a lifelong Ecuador resident who was easy to recognize with our names on his board. With a group of just 12, Chris's perfect English and deep knowledge of Ecuador enriched our experience. We explored a fish market, stunning viewpoints, and a beach where turtles nest year-round. Lunch at a nearby small restaurant featured fantastic seafood at great prices. After viewing the crest of the Condor, we learned about Panama hat makers, which was fascinating. We then visited a chocolate shop with affordable chocolates and delightful desserts. A brief stop for a photo at the Manta sign rounded off our day. We returned to the port with some time for shopping before boarding the ship. Chris’s mix of information and humor made the experience enjoyable, and Kevin, our driver, ensured safe driving and parking. I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a diverse taste of Manta.
We had a private tour for five with Judy from Manta Tours, who was both friendly and experienced. We avoided the crowds, enjoyed a local seafood lunch, and returned home with Ecuadorian Panama hats like President Roosevelt. It truly was a perfect day.
Our tour in Manta was fantastic, thanks to our guide Juan. He was bilingual in English and Spanish, and he made sure to engage with us by checking our preferences and often taking votes to reach a consensus on activities.
I had a fantastic day in Manta with Marcos and his driver. Marcos was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing insights about Ecuador. We explored numerous stunning beaches, witnessed hat making in Montecristi, visited the church, and enjoyed a wonderful cup of coffee at a serene farm in the rainforest. As a solo traveler, I felt completely safe and at ease with Marcos. I highly recommend this experience.
Juan and his niece Kelly made a genuine effort to accommodate us, yet the overall experience felt mediocre. The fish market and Panama hat making were engaging, while the wildlife walk in Pachoke was pleasant but we didn't spot any animals. Lunch was disorganized, and the chocolate factory visit was a complete letdown; we also missed the lighthouse entirely.
The pickup at the cruise terminal was seamless. Juan and Kelly were excellent guides, ensuring our comfort and sharing plenty of local knowledge. The fish market was intriguing and impressively clean. We enjoyed the rainforest walk, although it was quite hot and we didn’t spot any monkeys. The hat-making demonstration in Montechristi was delightful, and we decided to purchase one. While the bus ride was decent, we could only see out the side windows, which caused some motion sickness during the long drive. The lunch on the beach featured very fresh seafood. Overall, our day with Juan provided a great introduction to Ecuador.
Juan and Kelly provided an outstanding tour experience. From the beginning, he made it clear that he was flexible with stops if needed. He supplied water, snacks, and a souvenir for everyone. At the hat factory, his guidance was gentle and supportive, and he also recommended an excellent restaurant for lunch.
We booked this tour for four in German and received confirmation, but later we were informed that the tour would be in English, with an additional charge of $100 for a German-speaking guide. We opted to proceed in English just to go on the trip. I've never encountered such a situation before. The tour itself was decent, though we could have done without the coffee shop and snack booth at the beach's end.
Our guide in Manta, Maria, was fantastic. She greeted us at the port terminal and first took us to the Rainforest Preserve. The guide there was very knowledgeable, and both he and Maria adjusted the pace to suit us. Maria explained each location we would visit and let us choose where to have lunch. In Monticristi, she arranged for us to see a Panama Hat making demonstration without any hard sales tactics. As we drove, Maria shared a wealth of information about the local history and culture. She even provided us with some Ecuadorian snacks and a souvenir from our trip.
We booked a private tour with David as our guide, and it was an excellent experience. He arrived promptly for our pickup, and we thoroughly enjoyed all the sights he showed us.
