We were greeted by our incredibly friendly guide, who ensured we had properly sized bicycles and helped us adjust them before setting off, as we wouldn’t have another chance once we hit the road. Our first stop was MingLaBar, a local restaurant where, interestingly, we had dined the night prior. This was not an issue, as our guide ordered a variety of delicious dishes we hadn’t sampled, including chicken curry with potato, pork in black bean sauce, and tea leaf salad. The food was outstanding and plentiful. Next, we navigated through Mandalay traffic to a bustling tea house filled with locals. Here, our guide treated us to keema and banana oplatta, accompanied by sweet tea. It was a joy to connect with the locals and immerse ourselves in their daily life. We shared a lively conversation with our guide, who was interested in our customs, and we learned about local life. Our guide, a big Ed Sheeran fan, engaged us in discussions about British pop culture and the Royal Family. We could have chatted for hours—it was truly enjoyable! We then headed to Chinatown, where we relished a delicious bowl of noodles with chicken and tofu paste at a roadside eatery. We again spent a long time discussing the cultures of Britain and Myanmar, enjoying each other's company. Although we missed visiting Zegyo Market due to it being closed for a Buddhist holiday, we returned to our hotel satisfied after a wonderful day. Overall, the experience was fantastic. Our guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and funny, contributing to a memorable day. I highly recommend this tour; you will gain much insight and enjoy delicious food along the way. Thank you for a wonderful day.
Our afternoon with our guide Moh Swe was fantastic. She introduced us to an impressive array of Burmese cuisine and shared informative insights about Myanmar and Mandalay. We gained a lot of knowledge and won't need to eat for a few days. Biking around Mandalay added a touch of adventure, but we made it through. We strongly recommend this tour. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
I had a fantastic afternoon in Mandalay riding a brand new bamboo bike, enjoying delicious food, and meeting wonderful locals. Swe and Swan were excellent hosts—funny, kind, and truly passionate about their culture and cuisine, leading to engaging conversations. I was grateful for Swan's assistance navigating the busy crossroads since there are hardly any traffic lights or stop signs. I also suggest adding a bell or horn to the bikes for safety. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and left feeling satisfied.
We thoroughly enjoyed our fantastic tour with our wonderful local guides, Swan and Swe. The food was diverse and delicious, offering great insights into the culture and local cuisine. Looking forward to seeing you both in London.
This tour is truly exceptional, providing a delightful experience of exploring Mandalay in a local manner while enjoying a variety of tasty dishes. Moh Swe proved to be a fantastic guide, making the experience thoughtful and engaging, sharing intriguing insights about Myanmar and showing interest in my home country. Her assistance in navigating the ordering process was much appreciated, even with the language barrier. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys food—be sure to come hungry, as there's plenty to savor.
We had the opportunity to sample a wide variety of local dishes (be sure to skip breakfast) and gained valuable insights into the culture and lifestyle here. This tour was a standout experience during our time in Mandalay. Our guide, Moh Swe, was excellent and made the experience enjoyable. However, there were only three stops, though there was still an abundance of food to enjoy. With the wheels, we could have visited more locations.
This tour provided a fantastic combination of two of my favorite activities: biking and sampling local cuisine. Since I was the only participant that day, I enjoyed a private experience with my guide, Moh Swe, who spoke excellent English and shared a wealth of knowledge about Myanmar's food and culture. We visited several restaurants where she ordered a variety of dishes and drinks, including tea leaf salad, samosas, Shan noodles, and some desserts. The biking was manageable since the area we explored was relatively small, making it an enjoyable outing for both adults and children.
I reserved this tour for the Thingyan holiday in mid-April 2025, believing I could cancel it up to 24 hours in advance. Now, with two weeks left before my bike trip, I cannot cancel because it doesn't appear in the Manage My Bookings section. TripAdvisor indicated that non-refundable events wouldn't show up there, yet this was marketed as cancelable and refundable. I feel deceived by false advertising, especially since I can't cancel due to the earthquake. I've tried calling the provider, but no one answers, and I found no way to reach out, so I'm leaving this review instead.
It was a complete waste of time. I booked this tour for 2 p.m. expecting it to be my main activity for the day. However, I was directed to a hotel that has been closed for over a year, and no guide arrived. The hotel security confirmed its closure, raising serious questions about the quality control of the listings. I'm very disappointed.
