This village is famous for its handcrafted floor tiles, and you will explore the traditional tile-making and pottery workshops. The colorful Athangudi tiles, made for the Chettiars’ residences, are still crafted entirely by hand today. • Following your time in Athangudi, you will proceed to Thirumayam Fort. Constructed in the 17th century, this fort has a history filled with battles and intrigue. Afterward, you will visit Kanadukathan, a nearby town noted for its impressive old mansions adorned with intricate woodwork, terracotta, and tile features. • Lunch will be held in Karaikudi, where you will savor a multi-course traditional meal at The Bangala, a heritage hotel that was once a Chettinad family home. Post-lunch, you will explore the antiques market in Karaikudi along with local weaving looms that produce the renowned Chettinad textiles.
