I had a fantastic time on this tour. The basement exhibit was fascinating and left me wanting to learn more. We easily navigated through both the exhibit and the store. My college friend couldn't climb the lighthouse stairs due to her flip-flops and waited for us at the bottom. Our guide was very professional and knowledgeable, though a bit too chatty at times, but overall he managed his role well without overstepping. He provided us with excellent information before leading us to the tower, where the view was wonderful.
Although I didn't go inside, it was an interesting place to stroll around and admire the bridge. There are also several other buildings to explore and learn about.
The personal tour of the lighthouse led by my guide was truly enjoyable. The guide not only conducted the tour but also presented to a group of schoolchildren, effectively managing their excitement about the Mayflies that are prevalent in May. In the gift shop, I found a 50th Anniversary book about the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, authored by a local writer.
Visiting the lighthouse was a delightful experience, and we appreciated learning about its history. The tour guide was excellent and provided plenty of information. When buying your ticket, remember to book your tour time. Tours may be canceled in case of lightning, and the site offers a fantastic view of the Mackinac Bridge.
The guide provided a wealth of information, and we appreciated exploring the self-guided sections as well as the gift shop.
The role of the Keeper of the Light was crucial a century ago, directly influencing the safety of ships and their crews. Our guide portrayed this historical figure perfectly; he was outstanding.
The visit was absolutely worthwhile. We appreciated all the buildings, displays, and videos. Climbing to the top of the lighthouse was enjoyable and quite manageable with just 51 steps. The fog horn demonstration was another highlight that we were glad to experience.
Located near Old Mackinac Fort, this lighthouse offers a glimpse into history, which is a big reason we travel across the US. It's well-maintained and provides insight into the experience of living in a lighthouse close to others.
The lighthouse holds a small yet important place in the history of the Mackinac Straits. Our guide was quite knowledgeable, and the surrounding park is truly beautiful.
During a bus tour, we had the opportunity to explore Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse. Our guide, Mark Fornes, shared captivating stories about the region, including the bridge and the lighthouse, which kept us engaged. We toured the lighthouse and learned about the living conditions of the lighthouse keeper's family from the early 1900s. Those who wished could climb the stairs to the top. After our lighthouse visit, we walked around the grounds and explored the nearby Shipwreck Museum. Mark shared fascinating tales of local shipwrecks, making it a worthwhile way to spend our morning.
