The art of Chikan, for instance, provides a source of income for numerous women in the Lucknow area, allowing them to participate in the flourishing local economy, augment their household earnings, and simultaneously preserve this traditional craft. This work typically occurs in small studios within the homes of artisans, using large wooden frames to create exquisite pieces. You will receive insights about this craft from the artisans during a half-day, hands-on workshop. Each participant is provided with a personal embroidery kit for learning, a presentation is made by a designer, and attendees are instructed in the embroidery techniques. A vegetarian lunch, prepared at home, is also included (beverages not included). After your session concludes, you will be returned to your hotel in the city center.
