Known for its history, culture, and cuisine, Lucknow features British Raj era architecture and two mausoleums. As the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the city is often underestimated by visitors but boasts many attractions and is celebrated across India for its culinary offerings. Visit La Martiniere, a prestigious boarding school established as a grand residence by Frenchman Claude Martin. The itinerary also includes a visit to the Lucknow Residency, where the gardens and ruins provide insights into the decline of the British Raj. This location was significant during the events of the First War of Independence (Indian Uprising) in 1857, with an opportunity to explore the museum and cemetery. View the tombs of Nawab Sadat Ali Khan and his spouse, showcasing Indo-Syrian architectural style. • A notable landmark is the Asafi Imambara, constructed in 1775 by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula during a famine in the city. Rather than giving alms, the Nawab initiated this complex's construction to provide jobs for his citizens. The complex features a hall, mosque, gardens, a step well, and a labyrinth adjacent to the central hall, leading through narrow pathways to rooftop balconies. • The Rumi Darwaza is modeled after an entrance gate in Istanbul. There will be a brief photo stop at the 220-foot tall red brick Clock Tower, recognized as the tallest in India, built in 1880 in memory of Sir George Couper. Lunch at a local restaurant is included in the tour. Following the tour, you will be returned to your hotel in Lucknow.
