This one-day trek to Mount Rinjani offers an intense but rewarding challenge for those pressed for time. You’ll be picked up at your hotel in Senaru at 12:05 AM, arriving at the starting point shortly after. From there, you’ll trek up to the crater rim, reaching an altitude of 2,641 metres by around 6:00 AM, where breakfast will be provided by your guide.
After enjoying the sunrise views, you’ll begin your descent back to Senaru Village around 1:00 PM, completing the trek in a single day without the need for camping. This trek is suited for those with a good fitness level looking for a quick but exhilarating adventure.

We chose a one-day trip because of our limited time in Lombok. Although we are in good shape, it proved to be quite challenging. Our guide was friendly and we had great conversations. I'm thankful we went with a one-day option without porters; observing them in such tough conditions was tough to watch, even if it helps them earn a living.
This tour was enjoyable, led by an excellent guide. However, it's important to be in good physical shape to keep up with the demanding route. The scenery was stunning and made the effort worthwhile.
Be prepared to be physically fit and have the right gear. Our guide Benji was very attentive throughout the experience. I highly recommend this for the stunning viewpoint.
Hiking in high humidity and rain was challenging, but we found it manageable. We typically hike in Scotland and if we had more time, we would have chosen the 2-day, 1-night option. For those going overnight, be sure to bring ample tips for the porters; they are true heroes for carrying all the gear. Highly recommend it.
