I can't recommend Steady Eddy, my guide, and the porters highly enough. They ensured everything ran smoothly, and the food was not only delicious but also generously portioned, which was essential for such a demanding hike. Communication and coordination with the tour company prior to the trek were flawless. They provided all meals, including snacks, water, and coffee/tea throughout, and allowed for plenty of breaks in between. The camping setup at the summit was well-organized, though I advise bringing several layers due to the cold and windy conditions at the crater. It’s worth noting that many tour companies in Indonesia have mixed reviews, but this one truly earns their 5-star rating. However, be prepared for an extremely strenuous trek; this volcano is the third tallest in Indonesia. The crater rim is double the height of the tallest peak in the UK, with a steep ascent lasting around 7 hours, including breaks, and limited flat sections to rest your legs. The beautiful views you receive as a reward for your effort are truly remarkable. The 2D1N tour is efficient in getting you up and down quickly. If you're interested in exploring more waterfalls, hot springs, and summits, I recommend booking a longer itinerary with this company to experience everything Rinjani has to offer.
This was my first significant trekking experience, and while it was challenging, Gacih, our guide, encouraged me to reach the summit. He also supported me on the descent. The view from the top was excellent, with only a few clouds that day.
The trek to the summit was challenging, and just when you think it can't get any tougher, it often does. Our guide and porters were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the food was tasty. They ensured we had enough drinks and snacks throughout the journey. While some trekkers wore regular sneakers and reached the top, I wouldn't advise it; the path can be quite slippery with gravel. There are no restroom facilities beyond the starting point, so it's wise to bring wet wipes for freshening up. The toilet at the summit consists of a tent and a hole in the ground, so hand sanitizer is a must. The tent provided was relatively comfortable, and the sleeping bag kept me warm enough. The temperature at the summit was very cold, but the campsite was manageable. As a woman who easily feels cold, I recommend the following clothing: Day 1: shorts and a t-shirt, as the sun is intense. There are some mosquitoes near position 4. Day 2: long trousers, a long-sleeve shirt, a fleece pullover, and a warmer jacket for the summit, since it can be very cold up top, especially after getting sweaty. Bring lighter clothing for the descent.
The hike was stunning, and our guide, Eddie, was excellent. While we had a great time, the experience did not match the description provided. We expected dining with chairs and tables at each stop, but instead, we sat on mats on the ground and experienced delays in meal setup. Observing other tour groups receiving better accommodations was frustrating. Our guide explained that since it was a shared tour, we did not receive the same private experience that others did, even though we booked for a full tour. Despite this, I highly recommend the hike, and Eddie was a fantastic guide. Just be sure to look into the specifics, as the description did not align with what we experienced.
We participated in the 2-day, 1-night hike led by Jordy, who was fantastic and enhanced our overall experience. I highly recommend choosing this tour group for your adventure.
It was an incredible experience. The service provided was excellent, and both the guide and porter were very accommodating, going above and beyond to fulfill my needs. I highly recommend it.
The hike to the summit of Rinjani mountain is absolutely breathtaking, but it was the exceptional support from our guide Misha and the porters that truly helped us reach the top. Misha maintained a suitable pace for our group and was both friendly and relaxed, sharing insights about the mountain and the hike's organization. Our porters cooked four warm and delicious meals, including fresh fruit platters for dessert, and ensured we had plenty of snacks and drinks along the way. Upon our arrival at the crater rim, they had already set up our tents in a great spot with fantastic views. We thoroughly enjoyed this adventure.
Our experience with guide Antone was excellent; he was attentive and caring. The team, including the porters, was fantastic. We were pleased with our choice, which felt safer and well-supported. It’s worthwhile to have proper hiking shoes, so consider bringing your older ones. Thanks to the team!
Our experience on the two-day, one-night trek to the crater rim with Rinjani Dawn Adventures was truly incredible. Edi, our guide, was kind and supportive. The view from the crater rim was unlike anything I have ever seen.
We participated in the two-day, one-night Rinjani tour and had an incredible experience. The hike was stunning, and the view at sunrise was truly breathtaking. Our guide, Reno, was exceptional—kind, humorous, and very attentive. He was always there to assist us when we faced challenges during the trek. Despite the constant rain, he maintained a positive attitude, which enhanced our enjoyment of the adventure (even in the rain). Additionally, after the tour, we realized we left a jacket behind, and the team kindly returned it to our hostel. I highly recommend this organization for anyone planning a Rinjani tour.
