• Likir Monastery, also referred to as Likir Gompa, is a Buddhist monastery situated at an elevation of 3700m, roughly 52 kilometers west of Leh. • Alchi Monastery, known as Alchi Gompa, is a temple complex located about 65 kilometers from Leh along the Indus River. It is considered one of the most significant Buddhist sites in Ladakh and a key part of its monastic heritage. The monastery has roots dating back nearly one thousand years, influenced by Tibetan culture. The Choskor Temple Complex houses five shrines, featuring impressive wall paintings, including a wall adorned with thousands of miniature Buddha images. Three large clay images, vividly painted, are particularly notable. While it is no longer an active religious center due to the shift of the Yellow Hat sect (Gelugpa) to Likir, about 30 kilometers away, the atmosphere around Alchi Gompa remains inviting for visitors, with small restaurants, tea stalls, and souvenir shops available. • Magnetic Hill is located approximately 30 kilometers from Leh along the Leh-Kargil-Srinagar national highway and is known as Gravity Hill. It exhibits unique magnetic properties capable of pulling heavy vehicles uphill, making it a popular tourist spot due to its anti-gravity phenomena. • Gurudwara Pathar Sahib is a significant site where it is believed that Guru Nanak Dev ji, the founder of Sikhism, vanquished a demon. According to legend, while meditating at this location, a demon attempted to interrupt his prayers by hurling a large rock, which instead turned to soft wax, causing no harm. The demon later sought forgiveness, which Guru Nanak granted. The gurdwara displays the rock with the imprint of Guru Nanak Dev's body and the demon's footprint. Although the region is predominantly recognized for Buddhism, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib holds equal reverence for all visitors and is maintained by the Indian Army. • Basgo Monastery, also called Basgo or Bazgo Gompa, is a Buddhist monastery located in the Leh District of Ladakh, about 40 kilometers from Leh.
