Reviews
I participated in the Sand Harbor Clear Kayak tour and it was fantastic. The water was crystal clear, allowing us to paddle among large boulders. The beach was just a brief bus ride away, where we received instructions. Granola bars and water were provided, which were appreciated after all the paddling. At Bonsai Rock, the guide climbed the rock to take photos of each kayaker and later sent them to our phones. He also suggested some great dining options in South Lake Tahoe.
Even as a beginner kayaker, this experience was enjoyable; however, it does demand stamina for over an hour of paddling, and the water can get rough. Our guide Ethan was excellent and very personable. Thank you!
Our guide, Saheath, was quite annoying. He monopolized the conversation, not allowing anyone to ask questions. His political rants included discussions on slave labor in prisons and his take on American fascism, which felt inappropriate. We barely paddled, he restricted photos, and was overly controlling. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I cannot recommend this company.
For anyone considering a clear kayak tour in Tahoe, I highly recommend going in the morning—it feels like magic. Our small group of three enjoyed calm waters, and with storms expected later, we had the lake almost to ourselves. Brian, our guide, truly enhanced the experience. His passion for Tahoe shone through as he shared interesting facts and transformed a cloudy morning into a fantastic photo opportunity. The overcast sky added a unique glow to the lake, and he captured incredible shots that looked like scenes from another world. He even suggested filming from beneath the kayak to highlight the impressive rocks below, which was a fantastic perspective. I also liked that I had my own kayak since I was traveling solo. Others can choose to go tandem if they want, providing flexibility that some other tours lack. Gliding across one of the clearest lakes in the U.S. was an unforgettable experience. I strongly recommend this tour, and if you're fortunate, Brian will be your guide!
The experience was well organized and went smoothly. No prior experience is required, and I could have easily brought my 6-year-old granddaughter in a double kayak. The kayak is wide, unlike the typical smaller models. We had calm waters and no wind in the morning. Snacks and water were provided. The kayak is stable, and the guide made getting in and out simple. It is worth the cost, offering beautiful photo opportunities and a tranquil experience.
I experienced one tour cancellation before I managed to reschedule for a calm, cloudy day. Since this activity relies on weather conditions, it can be harder to see the bottom of the lake in shallow areas on overcast days, and strong winds might lead to cancellations. Despite this, the tour was still worthwhile overall.
The staff at Enjoy Tahoe—Dave, Brian, and Mackenzie—were enjoyable, engaging, and well-informed, providing a safe and beautiful kayaking experience on Lake Tahoe. I will certainly recommend them to friends and colleagues seeking adventure in the area.
I highly recommend this experience without reservation, and Russ was an outstanding guide. His knowledge of the area was impressive, and he even shared some great dad jokes along the way.
This tour offered a wonderful opportunity for both individuals and groups to discover Lake Tahoe. Our guide, Ryan, was friendly and full of knowledge, sharing trivia about the lake's features and wildlife. I was particularly amazed when he performed a spot-on impression of a merganser, the native bird that dives underwater, especially as he managed to retrieve my dropped phone with a single dive. I can't thank Ryan enough—I’m currently writing this review on my reunited phone! I highly recommend both this tour and Ryan as a guide. Just a tip: use a clear, waterproof case for your phone during the tour. Learn from my experience, but enjoy the stunning mountain scenery, knowing that in the shallower areas, you can see where your phone lands thanks to the crystal clear water.
It was a beautiful day. Russ is not only fun but also very knowledgeable about Tahoe. With him and Geoff, I felt secure throughout the trip. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.
