Reviews
The Elqui Valley is an enchanting destination suitable for visitors of all ages. The locals are welcoming, and the food is delightful. There's a restaurant that cooks exclusively using sunlight. In the evening, you can explore stunning sites and coordinate a visit to the observatories. It's truly a remarkable experience.
We experienced a fantastic tour. Both our guides and driver were friendly and well-informed. We got to see a variety of the local landscape and culture. The visit to the distillery was enjoyable and educational, and the lunch prepared by the sun was excellent.
The drive through the Elqui Valley is stunning, filled with vibrant colors, charming houses, and lasting memories. Pisco Elqui is an enchanting town, truly delightful and captivating.
We arranged this tour and were picked up at our Hostel el Punto at 8:30 am. Our guide Filipe was fluent in English and shared inspiring insights about the Elqui Valley, guiding us with a high level of professionalism. There were plenty of opportunities for photos, and he even invited me to sit in the front seat to capture better shots while we drove. The highlights, including the visit to the dam and the Pisco area, were fantastic, as was the included lunch. One suggestion: while La Serena can be chilly and windy in November, it gets very hot in the mountains, so dress accordingly.
The experience was enjoyable, and the location was beautiful with thorough explanations about the environment. However, I felt it was overpriced; for 400,000 pesos, I could have had a similar tour over 2 or 3 days that would have been even more enjoyable. Just a constructive criticism, the pricing seems excessive.
It was great to meet everyone; however, I found it a bit pricey, and there are limited parking options and dining places depending on the location.
This trip was truly wonderful; every stop was a delight. From the dam and Pisco to the visit at the Abba pisco farm, the sun-cooked lunch, and learning about Gabriela Mistral's life and work—everything was incredible. This journey is definitely worth taking.
I regret booking this tour and advise others to save their money. The description was misleading, as pickup from the port was delayed and in the wrong spot, wasting my time. Although the driver was good, it was evident that he and the guide were not familiar with each other, adding to the confusion. While we had a private vehicle, we still had to wait at stops for other groups, which defeats the purpose of a private tour. After lunch, we were supposed to visit several locations, but the guides never arrived, leaving us waiting without any activities. Ultimately, there was too much waiting and not enough sightseeing, and similar tours are available for much less money in a small group. The outdated reviews suggest the quality of this tour has declined over time.
The landscape and silence resonate deeply with the soul, allowing you to lose track of time as you take in the stunning beauty of creation. It is truly sublime.
The guide was incredibly well-informed about the Elqui Valley. We visited a pisco distillery and the charming town of Vicuña, though several shops were closed. To fill the extra time before lunch, he took us to another pisco distillery for an informative tour. We enjoyed lunch at a restaurant that utilizes solar energy for cooking, and the food was outstanding. This tour is a must for anyone wanting to explore the beauty of the Chilean desert outside of La Serena.
