We had a fantastic introduction to La Rochelle thanks to our friendly guide who is clearly passionate about the city. Jean-Baptiste tailored the experience to our interests and even met us at our hotel, which was a nice touch. It was an excellent value, especially for a private tour.
La Rochelle is absolutely stunning. This private walking tour is essential. We gained a lot of historical insights and saw incredible locations, including hidden gems. Our guide, Claudia, was delightful and truly enhanced our experience. Highly recommend it.
Exploring La Rochelle with Celine felt like a leisurely walk through the city with a close friend. Meeting her at a charming café, she introduced us to the area and our itinerary. Our group of six included two members in wheelchairs, and she ensured our historical tour was fully accessible, featuring a delightful ferry ride across the port. Celine chose a fantastic restaurant for our lunch, conveniently located near the old town but away from the crowded spots. The meal was excellent, and she provided us with maps for an easy return. A few days later, she even followed up to see if we were enjoying our next destination. I strongly recommend spending a day with Celine.
Our guide was both professional and personable, and we gained extensive knowledge about La Rochelle during the tour.
Adolphe, our guide, was excellent and extremely friendly, sharing a wealth of knowledge about La Rochelle's history. It made for a very enjoyable and engaging visit. Thank you!
This city, rich in history and tranquility, was expertly explored with our knowledgeable guide. He introduced us to hidden gems like a comedy club, a local chocolate shop, and a flower-adorned restaurant, as well as Templar sites and more. The added bonus of a tour video at the end was a thoughtful gesture.
I booked this excursion weeks in advance for my family, planning around our cruise ship schedule. I inquired about a later meeting time in case of delays. Unfortunately, the ship arrived 30 minutes late. I informed the guide, who assured me he would wait. After quickly getting off the boat and catching one of the first shuttles, we were dropped off at the town square. The guide indicated we should meet at a tourist center, but once we arrived, no one seemed to know where it was. We hurried across town, searching for the location. I found WiFi to call and text the tour guide, but there was no response. Eventually, we located the meeting spot, which turned out to be a shabby storefront selling cigarettes, and the lady there had no knowledge of either the company or the guide. After waiting for some time, I received a text saying he had left after waiting briefly.
Martine, our tour guide, was exceptional—she was always on time, attentive, and willing to take us wherever we wished to go. We appreciated her patience and the flexibility of the tour. La Rochelle was a delightful destination.
JB, our guide, was exceptional. He had a great personality and was very polite. The walking tour he provided was tailored to our interests and encompassed the entire old town.
The experience with Martine was one to steer clear of. We gained no insight into La Rochelle's history, and it felt like she was discovering the city alongside us. Charging 90€ for such a lack of enthusiasm and cultural depth is unacceptable. At times, the tour was drawn out and uncomfortable due to her minimal commentary. I am very disappointed as I anticipated a lot more; it's clear that one should not improvise as a guide without genuine passion.
