Hiking to the New Volcano of La Palma — things to do in La Palma

Four hours round trip hike covering 8 kilometres, experience the craters up close with a medium difficulty level.

This hiking route spans approximately 8 kilometres and takes 3.5 to 4 hours to complete, featuring a medium difficulty level with an elevation gain and loss of about 300 metres. You will get remarkably close to one of the volcanic craters, previously around 400 metres away, now just a metre from the edge.

The trail still has volcanic ash underfoot, offering a unique walking experience through the volcanic landscape. Meet at La Palma Outdoor in El Paso at 08:45. Due to weather conditions, the route may adapt to a linear trail that connects to the Las Manchas neighbourhood, which changes the elevation to +100m/-600m over a distance of 6.5 km, but maintains the duration.
