Reviews
We participated in this tour on November 15, 2025, and it was truly remarkable. The views of the volcano were stunning, and the hike was enjoyable with plenty of great photo spots. Driving through local areas added to the experience, and the entry fees were reasonable thanks to the tour package. The atmosphere was quite relaxing, creating a chill vibe among friendly people. I found myself surrounded by a great group, and although there were other parties, it never felt congested. At most, we had to step aside briefly to let another group pass on the narrow trail, which was perfectly manageable. Our guide, Diego, was exceptional—friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. He was punctual in picking us up, drove us around, and was very personable, even helping me practice my Spanish during our time together. I highly recommend him. I wish I had more time to explore; El Salvador is stunning. This tour is perfect for anyone seeking a bit of adventure, some exercise, or simply wanting to experience a new culture.
This tour was fantastic with stunning views. Diego proved to be an excellent guide—knowledgeable, patient, and kind. He prioritized everyone's safety throughout the experience.
I had an excellent experience, and Diego was an outstanding guide. I highly recommend this tour. It’s a good idea to wear hiking boots and bring a sweatshirt for the peak.
We had a fantastic experience. Diego was excellent, providing information and keeping everyone engaged while ensuring all languages were clearly understood. The hike was quite challenging, but he offered ample breaks for the group’s varying fitness levels and even took pictures. The views were breathtaking, and I truly enjoyed my time in El Salvador.
The excursion with Diego was fantastic. He is friendly, patient, and allows everyone to hike at their own speed, unlike some guides. Before heading out, remember to wear comfortable shoes—perhaps avoid white ones—along with light pants and a lightweight jacket. Sunscreen, a hat, and at least two water bottles are essential, as staying hydrated is vital to prevent exhaustion. Eating a heavy meal before the hike isn’t advisable since there’s only one restroom available early on. If you start near the front, you may miss photo opportunities due to others following closely, but you'll avoid dust. Conversely, if you’re at the back, be prepared for dust but have plenty of time for pictures. Ultimately, it's about what matters most to you. The summit is quite windy, but the stunning views make the hike worthwhile. I would definitely sign up for this excursion again.
The guide was excellent, and they conveniently picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. I really enjoyed myself; the guide offered valuable information and ensured everyone was comfortable throughout the hike.
Diego, our guide, was exceptional, sharing fascinating insights about volcanoes throughout the trek. While the hike was challenging for beginners, my prior experience made it enjoyable. The panoramic view at the summit was absolutely rewarding. We concluded with a lovely lunch that had another great view. I highly recommend booking this tour; you will not be disappointed.
This experience is truly exceptional, and Gaby is a very friendly and professional guide. I highly recommend it. Our group, in good shape, took an hour to ascend and an hour to descend. Don’t forget to bring water, snacks, and sunscreen. We enjoyed lunch with a view of Lake Coatepeque, providing a perfect conclusion to the day, with both the scenery and food deserving a 10/10.
This tour exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Gaby from El Salvador Positive Tours, reached out the evening before to confirm our readiness and arrived at our hotel punctually. She offered excellent insights during the day and was very supportive on our hike up and down the mountain. The private tour allowed us to set our own pace, which was crucial for us. Gaby also chose a fantastic spot for lunch that we thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, we had a great time and were very satisfied with our guide.
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Although the early start was challenging, it was definitely worth it. You can rest during the van ride to the volcano. My guide, Diego, shared a wealth of information about the volcano and its surroundings. The hike was manageable; if you have asthma, don't forget your inhaler. We covered 3.9 miles with a gradual incline of 2739ft, taking my group a total of 5 hours for the round trip, including breaks for restrooms, catching our breath, and over 20 minutes for photos at the summit. It's advisable to bring sandals or crocs to wear after the hike to keep your feet comfortable. The lakeside restaurant we visited was outstanding. As an AA from Virginia, I can assure you that the food was excellent. The restaurant accepts both cash and cards (including Visa, Amex, and Mastercard).
