This full-day tour delves into the Mayan legacy in La Libertad, featuring visits to key archaeological sites and the only well-preserved Mayan village in the region. The day culminates with an indigo workshop, where you can create your own dyed textiles. As the evening approaches, you will be rewarded with stunning sunset views from the top of a pyramid while enjoying coffee sourced from a local farm. Note that scheduled visits are affected on Mondays when many sites are closed.

Miguel served as a wonderful guide, providing insightful information about both Mayan culture and the contemporary histories of El Salvador's indigenous peoples. Joya de Cerén, known as the "Pompeii" of the Maya, was particularly intriguing, and Miguel dedicated ample time to explain the site. We also appreciated the other Mayan locations, San Andres and Tazumal, and enjoyed a scenic lunch with a view of the lake in Caldera De Coatepeque before returning to our hotel. Our driver Julio navigated smoothly and carefully. Highly recommended.
