The driver was truly wonderful, and we were very impressed with his kindness and positive energy. However, considering the tour's cost, we expected all expenses like admission to the ruins, the Honduran border fee, and lunch to be included. They were not, resulting in an actual increase of about $50 per person, which meant a roughly 25% rise in cost for us as a duo who initially paid $149 each. Additionally, we faced a $10 charge for pickup at our boutique hotel since it wasn't one of the larger chains. While the company does specify what's included, it felt like we were being charged extra for too many things.
The entire experience was incredible. We spent a full day exploring the stunning landscapes from San Salvador to Copán in Honduras. Videlio was an excellent guide, offering friendliness and a wealth of information that enhanced our tour. We explored the archaeological site with the help of our local guide, Gladis, who deepened our appreciation for its grandeur. We returned to our hotel on schedule, feeling exhausted but extremely pleased. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour and give a round of applause to Videlio.
I had an amazing experience. The day before the trip, the pickup location was confirmed, with options in main areas of San Salvador, like near the Intercontinental Hotel and Zona Rosa. The bus arrived on time. The border crossing from El Salvador to Guatemala was efficient and clean, with a restroom stop on the Salvador side. The drive through Guatemala was non-stop. The crossing into Honduras was less efficient; you'll need L./80 (dollars aren't accepted), and the exchange at the border isn't great. Upon arriving in Copán, there’s a $20 fee to visit the ruins (credit cards accepted) plus extra charges for tunnels and the museum. Gladys, our tour guide, was both informative and entertaining. Climbing the ruins was worthwhile, and the tunnels added value. The museum displays original artifacts from the ruins and is fascinating. There was also time for souvenir shopping (it's cheaper outside) and dining at the onsite restaurant with reasonable prices that accept credit cards. Our driver was polite and friendly (I forgot his name). Overall, I loved this experience and highly recommend it. Just ensure your passport has space for eight stamps.
We arranged a day trip from Santa Ana, El Salvador to Copan with Salvadorans. While most agencies offer this as a two-day trip, we appreciated the efficiency of completing it in about 12 hours. We reached Copan in under five hours via Guatemala and had ample time to explore the ruins for three hours. Afterward, we enjoyed a brief tour of Copan village. We returned to our hotel in Santa Ana well before dark. The driver was professional and accommodating, never refusing our requests. We highly recommend Salvadorean tours due to our trust in their service, evident from our initial communications.
The location is impressive and stunning, filled with large trees and surrounded by macaws, offering a rich sense of history. Highly recommended.
I had an excellent time at the ruins. I highly recommend this trip; don't let the long drive deter you. Our driver, Omar, was fantastic—very friendly, so definitely request him.
Our driver Omar was exceptional. He was very friendly, prioritized our safety, and ensured we were well taken care of throughout the day. Despite a two-hour delay from an accident on the highway and immigration into Honduras, he remained professional. The guide at Copan, whom he arranged for us, was also outstanding. It was an extremely long day with a significant amount of driving, but as long as you're prepared for that, you are likely to have a fantastic experience as well.
Alfredo Diaz was an excellent tour guide, making my vacation in El Salvador both fun and informative. It was a fantastic experience overall, and he is undoubtedly a tremendous asset to the team.
The journey to the Copan ruins was lengthy, yet the stunning scenery made it worthwhile. Omar drove safely and attentively, making us feel secure during the trip. His assistance at the border crossings was excellent, and we were fortunate that they were quick. The Copan archaeological site is definitely a must-see, offering a unique experience with its impressive sculptures, even compared to Tikal and other Mayan locations in Belize. However, the slow-moving truck traffic extended the drive more than needed. Staying overnight near Copan might be a good idea.
This tour was incredibly enjoyable! We were picked up from our hotel, and all the border crossings were seamless. We arrived with plenty of time to explore the ruins and capture numerous photos. After that, we visited a quaint village for lunch and shopping. I highly recommend this experience if you have the opportunity.
