We had an incredible day! Our fantastic tour guide Marvel and excellent driver Calvin made the trip unforgettable. The Rainbow Slide is a must-see. The local street food at the market was delicious, and we definitely recommend trying it. We also learned about the coffee-making process, from bean to cup. The day concluded with a soothing hot spring and mud bath, although we wished for more time at the hot spring. It was truly a fun-filled day in El Salvador and comes highly recommended.
My friend and I made a reservation weeks in advance and received confirmation, yet we didn't hear from our guide, Marvel, the day prior. I reached out for clarification but received no reply, and Viator would not issue a refund or cancel until there was an official no-show the next day. Around 10 PM, we started to panic and eventually found the company’s Instagram. After calling repeatedly, he finally answered and confessed he had completely forgotten about us. He said it was fortunate I called because no one else would have come. He mentioned he would arrive at 9:30 instead of the scheduled 7:30, stating he wouldn't come earlier due to the distance he lived from the area. This information should be made clear in the tour details. The tour itself was chaotic. When my friend asked to use the seatbelts in the car, Marvel reacted with visible anger and spent 15 minutes rearranging his personal belongings to make this happen. We visited a church that was closed for a holiday, which Marvel failed to anticipate, along with many local businesses. We stopped at a place that makes chocolate and horchata, which we enjoyed, but he almost walked out without settling the bill. The woman at the shop had to remind him to pay, and he didn’t have cash, requesting us to cover it and promising to reimburse us—something he never did. At another lovely boutique hotel where we enjoyed coffee and tea, the situation repeated itself. He ignored the owner's mention about the two stickers he took, which were worth $2 each, insisting it would benefit her business instead. Again, he didn't have money for the drinks, and we ended up paying once more. Although not a significant amount, it felt odd. The hot springs were undoubtedly the best part of the day, and he was accommodating while we spent time there. While the transportation was relatively good value, the overall experience as an organized tour was disappointing.
We had our tour with Herbert, who was both attentive and well-informed about El Salvador. The drive was lengthy, but his insights into the country's history made it worthwhile.
This tour is a scam. After booking, I tried multiple times to contact the operator without getting any response. Just a day before the tour, I messaged on WhatsApp and was promised a reply, but that never happened. I wasn't picked up for the tour, and they didn’t bother to reach out afterwards. I contacted Viator, but they could only send a refund request email, which hasn't been resolved yet. Very unprofessional experience. I had to arrange another tour at the last minute.
