The guide was fantastic and very accommodating. We had ample time for each activity, and everything went smoothly. Just ensure you are in decent shape, and you'll enjoy it.
Sami was an outstanding guide, and we had a fantastic time during our tour with her. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and entertaining. Although we traveled as a group of girls, I'm eager to return with my husband and two daughters, despite being from Utah. It was an unforgettable experience.
The guides were friendly and supportive, but the rough waves made kayaking a challenge and caused some nausea. While we did see interesting fish at the caves, this snorkeling location was the least impressive compared to the other three spots we explored independently in La Jolla. I believe there are superior snorkeling areas available, such as La Jolla Cove, where the water is calm and you can spot both fish and sea lions, or even La Jolla Shores, where you can just walk a short distance into the water to see leopard sharks and stingrays. Additionally, my rented wetsuit had holes and felt damp, making it rather cold. The guides also spoke too softly, making it difficult to hear them while kayaking.
Levi, our tour guide, was pleasant. It was enjoyable to watch the sea lions, although the water was quite cold despite wearing wetsuits. Surprisingly, our guide didn't snorkel either. There wasn't much to see underwater, but the kayaking portion was enjoyable.
Francesca was an excellent guide—both entertaining and well-informed. We were lucky enough to spot many Garibaldi and several leopard sharks, as well as a variety of smaller fish.
This kayaking adventure offered an insightful and physically engaging experience exploring the La Jolla Cove's ocean environment. We encountered numerous leopard sharks, vibrant orange Garibaldi, impressive sea lions, sea urchins, and small fish amid the swaying sea grass. Above us, cormorants, seagulls, and pelicans soared under a bright, sunny sky. Although the ocean was cool, our wetsuits kept us warm. Paddling for over two hours through gentle waves tested my arms, shoulders, back, and legs, reminding me that my core needs improvement despite feeling fit. The day concluded perfectly with a cold beer. Our instructor, Bethany, was knowledgeable, amusing, and a skilled paddler who guided us through this aquatic paradise. Thank you for a fantastic experience.
The ocean conditions were challenging, preventing us from entering the caves due to high tide. The water wasn’t as clear as shown in the promotional photos, though we did see a few leopard sharks and stingrays. Our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and humorous, making us feel safe and at ease.
Beth and Roman were both fantastic tour guides. We had a great time on the tour and would definitely return. I would give it a perfect score of 10 out of 10.
The guide seemed quite indifferent throughout the tour, and I often felt like I was being left behind. With several tours happening at the same time, there were moments when I noticed my guide had moved on without me. In addition, I did not receive much guidance regarding snorkeling.
Hal, my guide, shared a wealth of knowledge and anecdotes about the various plants and animals we encountered, including garibaldi, horn sharks, sheepshead wrasse, rays, spiny lobsters, and more. The cave's dramatic entrance required careful timing with the larger swells, but it was stunning inside. Paddling could be challenging at times due to cross currents, yet it remained manageable. Just be ready to reenter your kayak from the water, which isn't particularly graceful. Overall, it was a rewarding experience that I would happily repeat.
