Heritage walks, museum days, temple complexes, and the kind of guides who explain why a place matters rather than reciting dates. The cultural side of Korcula Island, paced for actual seeing.
1Some describe the middle and south Dalmatian coast of Croatia as the European Polynesia. The archipelago between Korcula and Lumbarda is special even by those standards. In this magical, secluded area you can paddle above a prehistoric archeological site, see a Franciscan monastery from the 14th century, visit quarries dating from the times of ancient Romans, enjoy beautiful, uncrowded pebble beaches and snorkel in a turquoise water. During a break you'll taste traditional local sweets and liqueur. To complete the experience, our knowledgeable and friendly kayak guide will take you around this amazing nature and its dynamic history through the art of storytelling.
2Panoramic drive through the Pelješac peninsula and south Dalmatian coastal road with a stop at Ston town will bring us to Dubrovnik, the town from the list of UNESCO world heritage, encircled with mighty walls and fortresses that have dominated the region for centuries. On the way back from Dubrovnik we make a stop at Wine museum on Pelješac peninsula and have wine tasting.
3Join us on a voyage dotted with spectacular landscapes, rural architecture and monuments of history. Believe it or not, Konavle region has it all – the charm, the tradition and exquisite cuisine. Taste exquisite wines in several wineries and learn all about flour production on a visit to the old water mill. After visit to the first winery, absorb the region by riding on a tourist train through its rich vineyards. Traditional customs are presented in the village of Ljuta in the water-powered mill where you get to see how flour was once produced. Here you can also learn everything about wool processing, another traditional craft of this region. Relish in some of the best wines originating in this part of Croatia in following vineyards. You may also find it particularly interesting to pick at the traditional ploughman’s lunch of bacon, onions and hard-boiled eggs served in a customary manner of the old folks from Konavle who laboured in the fields.
