• Begin your day at 9am by meeting your personal guide at your hotel in Khajuraho, followed by a transfer to the UNESCO World Heritage site known as the "Western Group of Temples." Start your exploration with the Kandariya Mahadev temple, recognized as the largest and most stunning structure, adorned with over 870 intricate sculptures and carvings. Continue to other temples including the Chaunset Yogini, dedicated to Goddess Kali; Chitragupta or Bharatji, which features a beautiful depiction of the 11-headed Vishnu; and the Vishwanath, Nandi, Lakshmana, and Visha temples dedicated to Shiva, which represent the architectural style typical of this region. While the Khajuraho temples are often noted for their erotic sculptures, they also present a harmonious balance with various other themes. In the early afternoon, enjoy a buffet lunch at one of the city's top air-conditioned restaurants. After lunch, spend time discovering the town's local handicrafts. In this small town, tourism serves as the primary income source for many residents, with nearly every household involved in some form of commercial activity. Many homes have been transformed into budget accommodations, shops, and eateries. To conclude your day, there is an optional sound and light show available (at your own cost) at the Western Group of Temples complex in the early evening. This show provides an overview of the Chandela Kings' history and narrates the story of the notable temples from the 10th Century to the present, lasting around 50 minutes and offered in both Hindi and English. You will be taken back to your hotel, airport, or railway station in Khajuraho around 7pm.
