Half-day session includes pool training and ocean dive for first-time divers; certified instructors ensure personalized guidance and safety throughout.
This half-day scuba diving experience begins at Amoray Dive Resort, where you’ll start with a comfortable session in the on-site pool to build confidence under the guidance of experienced instructors. After the basics, you transition to the ocean for your first dive among Key Largo's reefs.
With small group sizes, you receive ample personal attention, ensuring your comfort and safety with every breath taken underwater. This is a genuine ocean dive rather than just a pool experience, allowing you to encounter the local marine life from the outset.
Snorkelers are welcome to join, making the activity suitable for families and groups with mixed diving experience. If the experience ignites your passion for diving, it can contribute toward your Open Water certification.

The experience we had this week with Max and the team at Amoray was fantastic and very professional. My daughter and her friend earned their open water diving certification thanks to Max’s expert instruction, and all the staff were top-notch. We strongly recommend Amoray for anyone looking to dive or stay in Key Largo.
We chose this place for our open water dive certification, and it turned out to be an outstanding experience. The room was fantastic, and the staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Our dive instructor, Max, was engaging, knowledgeable, patient, and a lot of fun. We had an amazing time diving and even saw a shark! We gained new skills and uncovered a new passion. Definitely recommend staying and diving here; you won’t be disappointed.
Gabe is an excellent instructor, showcasing professionalism and extensive experience in scuba diving and teaching. The open water dives were enjoyable, and the captain along with the first mate were friendly and supportive. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in experiencing scuba diving. Mike
My son thoroughly enjoyed the experience, particularly due to the guidance and support provided by Tom. We appreciate it greatly.
Nick, the dive instructor, was excellent. We participated in the Discovery Dive course without certification, which included around 2 hours of pool instruction followed by 2 ocean dives later that same day. My sole issue was jumping from a depth of 7.5 ft in the pool to a maximum of 50 ft in the ocean; it felt a bit overwhelming. A shallower dive first would have helped us beginners adjust better and likely resulted in a more successful experience.
The scuba instructors were excellent, and the crew and boat captains were both attentive and enjoyable. Kalen and Christina provided clear explanations and demonstrations, ensuring our son was well-prepared for his open water certification. We also took a thorough refresher course with them. The property itself has a charming, welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend this experience for families, friends, or anyone seeking a laid-back scuba and stay getaway in the Keys.
We completed our Advanced Open Water dive certification with Tom, featuring 8 dives over 2 days, opting not to utilize the hotel. The positives included: - Staff that was both knowledgeable and welcoming - Equipment rental was straightforward and reasonably priced - A fun and responsible boat crew - We explored different dive sites, returning only for deep water dives, resulting in varied experiences - Safety was prioritized, ensuring a secure yet enjoyable outing - Rented gear was in good shape, and issues were addressed promptly - Tom excelled at providing practical instruction, significantly enhancing my diving skills in a short timeframe - Snacks were available on the boat On the downside: - The trip felt brief, and I wished for a longer duration - While the website is appealing, it lacks detailed information and encourages phone calls instead, which could be improved for clarity. In summary, this dive shop and tour service are excellent, with commendable staff from the office to the dive crews. The prices are fair, and I would recommend this experience to anyone.
The entire experience was fantastic. Our instructor, January, was not only positive and friendly but also extremely helpful. She connected wonderfully with my two sons, aged 15 and 11, and went the extra mile to ensure we had a memorable time. I cannot praise her enough. From the office to the boat, all the staff at Amoray were attentive, welcoming, and well-organized. Although I am a certified diver, this was my kids' first diving experience, and they absolutely loved it, prompting us to pursue their certification. We had such a positive experience with Amoray's Discovery program that I would gladly consider returning for their certification courses. I also wish I had known about the option to stay at their facility, as everything there appeared lovely and conveniently situated. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I am grateful to have discovered Amoray. Thank you!
I received excellent personalized service. It was really windy and cold, so I decided to cancel my afternoon dives. The staff were very understanding and helped me reschedule for the following morning. They even offered to cancel my advance reservation and included the remaining dives of my refresher course. Ultimately, I woke up to a comfortable 70 degrees, and while the ocean conditions had improved, I still chose to cancel. Ideally, I prefer conditions in the 80s. Perhaps next time!
I had a fantastic time learning scuba during a discovery dive at Amoray Dive. Our instructor Gabe was very effective in the pool, ensuring we practiced each skill before moving on. The pool session lasted slightly over two hours for three students. Afterward, we fitted our wetsuits and boarded the boat to explore two dive sites at Molasses Reef. We encountered stunning coral, vibrant fish, barracuda, sea turtles, and Goliath grouper! Although the seas were a bit rough and some in our group experienced seasickness, the crew was exceptional, especially Ericka, who offered great assistance. They were dedicated to making sure we had a positive experience, providing gear assistance and refreshments like water, pretzels, and ginger chews for seasickness, along with a refreshing shower afterwards. Overall, it was a wonderful day on the water, and two of us are likely to pursue certification. The only aspect I would improve is allowing more time between the pool lesson and the dives. We were informed we'd start at 8 am with a 30 to 60-minute break, but instead began at 9:30 and moved straight to wetsuits and the boat. We could've used a snack and a few moments to relax and review what we learned before diving. This rushed transition made me feel a bit anxious, but overall, it was a great experience, and I would dive with them again.
