Four hours — an electric bike ride on the road to nowhere followed by a guided rainforest hike with potential wildlife sightings and scenic beach views.
This four-hour ecotour combines an electric bike ride along the scenic road to nowhere with a guided hike through the Tongass National Forest. The ride leads to a trailhead where the hike starts, featuring an active salmon spawning stream and a picturesque waterfall along the way. Expect to see beach views and possibly spot black bears or marine mammals, depending on the season.
All tours provide round-trip transportation from nearby docks, ensuring convenience. Excellent rain gear is available should conditions require it. After the hike, enjoy smoked salmon snacks along with vegan options back at the marina.

Dana and Raven led our tour, starting with e-bikes followed by a hike through Ketchikan's rainforest. They did an excellent job teaching us beginners how to use the bikes and were very well-informed about the local flora and fauna. I would definitely do this again.
The experience combined biking with a walk through the rainforest and beach successfully. Reiven proved to be an excellent guide, well-informed about the area. Everything from communication to pick-up went smoothly.
Chandler provided an attentive and detailed experience. We encountered a cooler, rainy day, making rain gear preparation essential, and they supplied extra gear for those who needed it. The out-and-back route was enjoyable, with bicycles in excellent condition. It's important to note that this activity includes both biking and a hike of about a mile, allowing us to explore a beautiful forest canopy. The water flow and waterfalls leading to the bay were stunning. Visiting in early September was perfect, as we were lucky enough to witness the salmon returning to spawn. This added a delightful touch to our ride. Overall, it was a fantastic tour with a great guide.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day on the EBike/Rain Forest tour. The bikes were well-maintained, and our guide, Chandler, was outstanding, sharing a wealth of knowledge about the Rain Forest. We also appreciated the rain pants provided, which were useful during the light, annoying showers. Kudos to Chandler and the entire Ketchikan Kayak team.
My husband hurt his back just before our cruise, so he couldn’t join. On the ebike/hike tour, it was just the three of us. Reivon and Dana were incredibly kind and knowledgeable, allowing us to ride at our own pace without pressure. Dana guided us through the ebike tutorial, while Reivon led the hike. The ebikes are straightforward, but you do need to adjust to the slight push forward when starting after resting downhill. The hike was brief, leading down to the ocean where we walked along the rocky shore. We were fortunate to see a sea lion nearby, although no other wildlife was spotted. Along the route, we sampled various berries and paused at waterfalls and streams. Don't hesitate to try the ebikes; they'll be easy to master. The hike is an out-and-back, and the towering red cedars are stunning.
Chandler served as my guide, and he was incredibly friendly. It was just the two of us, and during our hike in the woods, we encountered at least four bears. I would definitely do this again. I wish I could share pictures or videos of the bears, as I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
This was an excellent experience guided by experts. Our guides were friendly and patient while providing e-bike instructions to beginners, and they shared valuable knowledge about the area during our forest hike. I recommend anyone who has ever ridden a bike to give it a shot. It was truly enjoyable!
This experience was truly worth the cost. The excursion surpassed my expectations, with Chandler providing exceptional insight. His deep knowledge and passion for Alaska's wildlife and culture were evident. Communication regarding the meeting point and transport was flawless. After the tour, we were welcomed by the team and enjoyed wild salmon dip along with drinks. I strongly recommend the Ketchikan Kayak Company for all Alaska excursions.
We decided to try a non-ship excursion and were really pleased with our choice. We enjoyed every moment of our personalized tour, with only two participants. The bikes were new and easy to use. We saw stunning forests and lakes, along with mushrooms, a small waterfall, fish, ferns, and breathtaking views. I highly recommend this experience.
This experience was really enjoyable and a fantastic way to explore another side of Ketchikan. Our guides, Jessie and Cristal, were both relaxed and very knowledgeable. We were picked up at the Terminal and taken to a small industrial area by the marina. After using the restrooms (the water may look slightly yellow as it's sourced from a nearby creek), we chose our shiny new red bikes. After a brief tutorial on how to operate them and seat adjustments, we were ready to go, helmets on. None of us had experience with electric bikes, but they were easy to handle. We were fortunate to have a gorgeous day with clear blue skies. Although the guides offered waterproof gear like coats, trousers, and even gloves, we ended up not needing those but I wished I had taken the gloves. We rode approximately five miles before parking our bikes and strolling through the stunning rainforest, guided by Cristal. The scenery was magical, and while there are many steps, it’s manageable with average fitness as long as you can maintain your balance. I captured a lot of amazing photos, as the views were breathtaking. After that, we returned to the bikes and made our way back to the marina where we were treated to a plate of delicious salmon, accompanied by hummus, diced cucumber, and crackers. It was the perfect ending. Thank you, everyone!
