Three hours, small group — black bears at Herring Cove, sea life at Rotary Beach, and stunning views at Rainbow Falls with local guides.
A guided three-hour tour that showcases Ketchikan's unique wildlife and scenic landscapes. Begin at Herring Cove, where if you're lucky, you might spot black bears, eagles, and seals, especially during the salmon run from June onwards. You'll also have a chance to capture a photo beside a 600-year-old Sitka Spruce tree and observe local fishermen in action.
Afterward, visit Rotary Beach to explore tide pools teeming with sea life. The final stop is Rainbow Falls, perfect for photography with its striking backdrop. Each tour is led by local women who provide insights and context along the way. Complimentary snacks, water, and rain ponchos are included, so come prepared for the weather.

This tour exceeded our expectations! Our guide was fantastic and made every effort to bring us close to wildlife in a safe manner. We encountered starfish, deer, a bald eagle, and even a bear! She returned to our initial spot to ensure we saw the bear. The waterfall was stunning too.
The tour was quite enjoyable. Our guide was well-informed and pointed out interesting things like starfish, and we also saw eagles. Sadly, the bears were not around, likely due to the rain. It’s best to avoid Alaska in mid-September. The transportation provided was comfortable, featuring charging stations with cords and snacks along with water for everyone.
The tour provided a delightful experience exploring Ketchikan aboard a comfortable bus, which included phone chargers and snacks. Kaitlyn, the owner/operator, demonstrated her deep passion for the area, expertly locating wildlife for us to see and sharing insights about the town and its residents. Her lively spirit combined with her extensive knowledge as a native left us feeling great after the tour. It was a laid-back outing with only light walking and one minor ascent. While we didn't spot any starfish, we enjoyed sightings of bald eagles, harbor seals, lovely birds, and a mother bear with her cubs, as well as a picturesque local waterfall. Booking online can be a gamble, but this experience was worth every dollar, plus a tip. If you're on a cruise, rest assured, she will ensure you're back on schedule.
I highly recommend Katlyn! She's enthusiastic, enjoyable, and very resourceful when it comes to spotting animals. Her knowledge of the area is impressive.
The tour was brief and included sightings of several eagles and some sea life, like starfish, but not much more. Unfortunately, there were no bears visible, likely due to their lower numbers during this season.
Our group of seven appreciated Katlyn's insights about Ketchikan and we did catch glimpses of local wildlife. However, her effort to find bears seemed hurried, and the single waterfall we visited was lackluster. The experience felt too brief, leaving us eager to explore more. While we recognize that she can't influence wildlife sightings or natural attractions, the tour fell short of expectations given its description and cost per person.
Our tour guide went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. She diligently searched for bears and successfully found a mother with two cubs for us to observe, all while keeping a respectful distance. It was an overall fun day.
Jody provided us with a wealth of knowledge about the island and its history, including a brief drive through Saxman village to view the totem poles. While we spotted many bald eagles, we didn't encounter any other wildlife.
Pam was an engaging and knowledgeable guide. We were able to explore Ketchikan beyond the typical shopping spots. It is genuinely a beautiful location.
Having visited Alaska 14 times, I consider this tour among the top two experiences we've had. Pam was incredibly knowledgeable, showing us areas of Ketchikan we hadn't explored before. We will definitely choose this company again on our next visit.
