Two and a half hours of sightseeing by trolley — visit Saxman Native Village, Rainbow Falls, and the Totem Heritage Center with a guide sharing local history.
This tour takes you on a 2.5-hour ride through Ketchikan aboard a replica 1800s cable car trolley. The journey starts with a short drive past an eagle's nest, leading to Saxman Native Village, where you'll find Tlingit and Haida totem poles adorned throughout the village. Your guide will narrate Ketchikan's vibrant cultural history as you pass by.
After a coastal drive, you’ll stop at a cove for potential wildlife sightings, followed by a visit to Rainbow Falls for some picturesque photos. Concluding the tour, you'll visit the Totem Heritage Center to see authentic native artifacts and carvings before returning to your starting point or stopping in the historic district of Creek Street.

Our experience began with a warm welcome from the crew at the dock, which eased our initial anxiety about making it back to the ship on time after scheduling a later tour. Instead of a trolley ride, we received a private van with a driver. Juan, our guide, was exceptionally knowledgeable and professional. He assisted our elders getting in and out of the van and ensured we never felt rushed. We were able to visit numerous unique locations that we would have missed otherwise. The highlight was being dropped off directly at the ship rather than having to shuttle back to Ward's Cove. We truly appreciate all that Juan did for us. Looking forward to next time.
This tour was fantastic! Chris was an excellent guide—very knowledgeable and supportive. I would definitely suggest this tour to others.
This tour was fantastic, thanks to an exceptional guide. Christopher was incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining, clearly passionate about his work. I felt I gained a lot of insights, complemented by a sense of humor, which made the experience even more enjoyable. He genuinely seemed to care about us and the island.
The late tour had just four participants, allowing us to travel comfortably in a van with our excellent guide Juan. He took us to all the main attractions and some additional spots, displaying great knowledge and answering all our questions. We were pleased to explore beyond the town center, and choosing the later trip meant we enjoyed many sites without being overwhelmed by other tour groups, especially with five cruise ships docked that day, making the town quite crowded.
Overall, the tour was excellent, providing a great way to explore the small city without walking too much. It was helpful to have a local guide sharing insights on attractions. However, it's important to note that the port for our cruise line (Encoré) is about a 12-minute drive from the city center, which is the tour's meeting point. Walking takes around 50 minutes, and while our cruise line offered shuttle services to and from the port, timing is crucial. We underestimated the travel time and arrived slightly late, so it's advisable to plan ahead and allow sufficient time.
The operators who picked us up, one from Florida and the other living in Davao, were very accommodating, especially since we were late. Their service was excellent, with well-timed stops and informative insights, and they were truly generous with their time.
Juan was an incredibly knowledgeable, amiable, and thoughtful tour guide. He drove safely, was very attentive, and shared a wealth of information. We truly enjoyed our experience and would repeat it instantly. I highly recommend this tour.
This tour was fantastic! Christopher had exceptional knowledge about Alaska and Ketchikan in particular. His narration was enhanced by a wonderful voice and plenty of humor, making me feel like I was being shown around by a good friend.
Chris is fantastic, extremely knowledgeable, and has connections all over the island. We spotted eagles, but unfortunately, there were no bears or whales during this trip.
Juan, our tour guide, was fantastic. He was not only knowledgeable and friendly, but being a resident, he introduced us to all the hidden gems in the area.
