This two-hour sunset cruise on the Murchison River is Kalbarri’s only river cruise experience. After a safety briefing, the boat travels 6km upstream, offering commentary on the region's history, fishing industry, and the wildlife that inhabits the area. Keep an eye out for ospreys, kites, pelicans, and the impressive white-breasted sea eagles, among other birds, as well as kangaroos and emus along the banks.
As the cruise continues, admire the colorful rock formations and narrow channels near Goat Island. A quick stop at Rocky Crossing allows passengers to stretch their legs before heading back downstream, where you can capture more views and enjoy the descending sun. The journey concludes at the river mouth as the Murchison meets the Indian Ocean, ending with a spectacular finale.

This was my second experience on a cruise with Tracey and Grant, and it was fantastic! Their friendly and helpful personalities really stood out, and Grant shared lots of interesting information throughout. When the sunset approached, he expertly positioned the boat for optimal photo opportunities on both sides. I can't recommend this enough; it's a wonderful way to relax, learn about the area, and spot some wildlife. I also needed to adjust my booking to remove one person, and Tracey made the cancellation process effortless. Thanks for another memorable cruise!

This calm journey is crucial for appreciating everything Kalbarri has to offer. It's hard to truly grasp the Murchison River without going upstream. The guides are friendly, engaging, and well-informed, showcasing their passion for the environment. Highly recommended.
This was an incredible experience; I would rate it even higher than five stars if I could. We enjoyed both the morning and evening cruises, each offering unique views as the sun transformed the landscape and we observed various wildlife. Tracy and Grant were fantastic hosts, sharing their extensive knowledge of the area and providing exceptional hospitality that made us feel at home. This was our third journey with Grant and Tracey at Kalbarri Wilderness. We thoroughly enjoy cruising up the river in Kalbarri, and each experience has been fantastic. The boat is comfortable and equipped with toilet facilities. Grant's commentary is outstanding—knowledgeable and amusing. We will definitely go again on our next visit.
