We didn't get to see the glacier because it was too foggy, which was very disappointing. The whale watching was decent, as we spotted a few, but we were misled about the glacier view. Additionally, we had to pay an extra $45 per person to reach the glacier, which felt unfair. However, once we arrived, the glacier and Nugget Falls were spectacular.
The check-in process was somewhat disorganized, but the bus drivers were wonderful—very friendly and full of information. Captain Russel and his crew, Dannie and Gracie, were exceptional. We spotted multiple whales and a sea lion, and he ensured we stayed long enough for a great view.
The experience was fantastic, with the staff fully committed to ensuring animal sightings. While riding on the boat, passengers are allowed to move to the bow when a sighting occurs, which can be challenging for those who need to be cautious. I appreciated the attentive and supportive staff who were ready to assist. We spotted Dall's porpoises, orcas, and a couple of whales, though they were at a distance. A tip: use your camera in video mode to capture those quick swimmers better than I managed. Overall, I had a wonderful time.
Our group was collected from the ship and taken to a harbor to board the boat. The wildlife viewing was outstanding; we encountered orcas, humpbacks, bald eagles, seals, and even a mother bear with her three cubs. What stood out the most was the friendliness and expertise of everyone involved, from the bus drivers to the boat captain and naturalists, all eager to help us find more wildlife. I highly recommend this experience.
We had a wonderful experience spotting several humpback whales, porpoises, and amusing sea lions. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, especially Hayley. Thank you for a great time.
The crew was fantastic, particularly Jimmy. We enjoyed a beautiful day on the water and even spotted four whale tails.
Everything was well organized from beginning to end. The skipper and crew were exceptional in every aspect. I highly suggest going on this trip.
This experience was truly amazing, and I highly recommend it to everyone—I would certainly do it again without hesitation. While wildlife sightings aren't guaranteed, we had a fantastic day in mid-May. Just outside the harbor, we encountered a pod of orcas, including a young one still yellow from birth, which is rare since they only see orcas about 5% of the time. Shortly after, we watched Pizza, a humpback whale, feeding. When it started to rain, we returned to the cozy enclosed cabin until the captain spotted Nibblet, another humpback whale, alongside some feeding porpoises. Later, we came across three sea lions piled on a buoy for a nap. As the skies cleared, we were treated to views of Mendenhall Glacier from the water. Although binoculars were available, they weren't necessary. The boat was very comfortable with an onboard bathroom, and the captain and two naturalists were informative and eager to share their knowledge. The driver picked us up in downtown Juneau and provided intriguing insights during the ride to Auke Bay.
Mia Calvin and Nick were excellent tour guides. I enjoyed spotting the whales, and they also located seal lions. I highly recommend this tour.
We had a fantastic time with Dustin, Brock, and Dani. There were many Humpback whales to see, and the crew's expertise was impressive. They also provided us with snacks and water, which added to the overall enjoyment.
