Aiden provided excellent service during our trips to and from the glacier. He shared informative historical facts and lightened the mood with some humor.
Aiden was an outstanding bus driver who truly enhanced the experience, making it feel like he was enjoying the journey with us. He was hilarious and even spotted two bald eagles mating. We would definitely book with him again if given the chance. It was a fantastic experience and the shuttle was very smooth.
We booked our excursion to Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls just a day in advance, being cautious about foggy weather potentially obstructing the views. Since we didn’t have a printer on the ship, we relied on the downloaded tickets on our phones, which worked perfectly. The local tour operator, M&M Tours, was easy to locate and very well organized with polite staff. Archie, our bus driver and a Juneau native, was both entertaining and informative. The small visitor center offers a gift shop, ample seating with great views, and informative displays. Most of our time was spent hiking to Nugget Falls, which took about 25 minutes each way. During the first week of May, we encountered some slush and ice on the trail. There were walking sticks available at the visitor center entrance, which I would have borrowed for added stability. Our trip to Alaska fulfilled our desire for beautiful scenery and valuable local insights.
The experience was enjoyable once we reached the visitors center, although we felt rushed. The tour started half an hour late, creating stress for some travelers. We all arrived on time at the pick-up point, only to find the bus was late. It might be worth considering public transport or an Uber instead. This tour company needs to improve.
The current price seems higher than it justifies, but the service provides a handy way to reach the glacier and return. For families, opting for a taxi might be a more cost-effective option. I wish we had more than two hours on-site, as it only allowed for a brief visit to the main viewpoints—the falls and the photo point—and a quick stop at the visitor center, with no time to explore additional trails.
The driver was very informative and maintained a cheerful atmosphere while sharing insights about the local area during our trip from the port to the glacier.
This was an incredible experience. It ranks among the top tours I have ever participated in.
The views are absolutely breathtaking, and the waterfall is truly magnificent. It's an easy walk to reach the waterfall.
Kristal was knowledgeable and welcoming. We had the opportunity to observe many eagles resting on lampposts. The overall experience was enjoyable.
I am writing this review again because it seems M&M removed my previous one, which lacks transparency for their customers. I rate this company 2 out of 5 stars. While the glacier was beautiful, the bus ride was underwhelming. The excursion mainly consisted of a transport from the tram to Mendenhall Glacier, where we were left for only two hours. It felt rushed, as the park has numerous areas to explore that we didn't have time to visit. Our driver, Krystal, was pleasant but arrived 20 minutes late for our 2:55 pm pick-up, showing up at 3:20 pm. I understand delays happen, but waiting in the rain in Juneau for that long wasn't pleasant. Everyone was crammed under a small tarp, and all Krystal said was, "I can’t do anything about it, it is what it is." She could have tried to arrive earlier.
