Staying in Juneau for two days after our National Geographic cruise was worth it just for this tour. Although the first day was rained out, we were rebooked for the next afternoon and had an incredible time. The flight and sledding were the obvious highlights of our Alaskan adventure for both my 12-year-old granddaughter and me. I've flown in helicopters before, but nothing compares to this experience. The extra days in Juneau to ensure we didn't miss out were well worth it, and our young pilot deserves praise for a smooth and safe trip.
This was unquestionably the highlight of our 11-day trip in Alaska. Our helicopter pilot, Oceana, made even the rainy day enjoyable, and our first helicopter ride was remarkable. On the glacier, Josie, who was training sled dogs for the Iditarod, shared insights about each dog's personality and role. Although this was a significant splurge for us, it was worth every cent. A helpful tip: while we brought all our cold weather gear, they provided everything necessary, including shoe covers, rain pants, and jackets. Knowing this beforehand would have saved us a suitcase. Many others on our ship had tours canceled due to weather, but ours proceeded as planned.
This was the standout experience of our Alaskan cruise. The staff were extremely friendly, and my kids and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The helicopter ride was incredible as well. It is definitely a must-do! The dogs appeared joyful and well-cared-for. It truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Our experience was incredible! We took a flight from Juneau to the Herbert glacier and then enjoyed dog sledding. Our musher, Sam, was friendly, knowledgeable, and entertaining, even dressing in patriotic attire for July 4th. Highly recommend this activity when visiting Juneau!
My granddaughter, who is a teenager, and I participated in this excursion, and it truly went beyond what we expected. I highly recommend it.
This was our first helicopter experience, and it exceeded our expectations. The staff prioritized our safety throughout the entire journey. The helicopter ride over the mountains to the glacier was breathtaking. Dog sledding was fantastic; the dogs appeared joyful and engaged in their work. The mushers and team clearly care for the dogs and their jobs. I would strongly recommend this adventure.
I had a fantastic time with my 13-year-old grandson on this tour. The helicopter ride and the dog park visit were both memorable experiences. The sled ride was especially unique, and the views from the helicopter were remarkable. I highly recommend this tour.
If you’re considering whether to invest in this experience, I can assure you it is absolutely worth it! My husband felt anxious about the helicopter ride, but the staff was professional and ensured all safety protocols were followed, which helped him relax. The aerial views of the glacier and mountains were stunning; I captured numerous photos. Due to an odd number of participants, my husband and I had to ride separately on the sled, but that was fine. I was on Joey's sled, who was fantastic and answered all my questions about the dogs, racing, and the glacier. However, I was let down by the professional photos taken by an independent company—they ended up being too distant and somewhat blurry, which I feel were not worth the price, though we captured plenty ourselves.
This was an extraordinary experience. My kids, aged 16 and 13, agreed it was the highlight of our trip. The helicopter ride offered stunning views of Juneau, the Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau Icefield, and Herbert Glacier, where we landed. Agnes, our pilot, was excellent, pointing out many sights and ensuring we felt secure. The dog camp was fascinating. We appreciated learning about dogsledding and summer life on the glacier. The dogs are well taken care of and eager to run! Our musher, Willoe, gave us an enjoyable ride and answered all our questions. Meeting the dogs and hearing about their unique personalities was a delight, and being on a glacier was a fantastic bonus. I rated this 4 out of 5 because I was let down by the short duration we spent dogsledding. The loop lasted under 15 minutes, and we only stopped once to switch places and interact with the dogs. We spent more time petting dogs, looking at puppies, and waiting for helicopters than actually sledding. I would have preferred an additional loop and for everyone to have a turn at controlling the sled. I was also let down by the photo quality they offered. While I wanted to buy them—since they were the only professional photos with the sled and dogs—they are printed as 5x7 hard copies right on-site, and the quality wasn't impressive. Plus, we had no bags to carry them in during the return trip. I would suggest switching to digital photos that could be emailed. Nonetheless, I would still purchase them at the airport later. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would recommend it, but just have realistic expectations.
The experience was outstanding, with excellent staff who ensured we were well taken care of from start to finish. They prioritized our safety and provided appropriate shoe covers for both deep snow and ice. We had ample time for the dog sledding, interacting with the dogs, and exploring the glacier. Very professional service, and I highly recommend it.
