Three hours on the water, including a scenic transfer — see whales and Mendenhall Glacier, weather permitting, from a 49-passenger vessel.
This whale watching cruise from Juneau lasts three hours, featuring approximately 2.75 hours of wildlife and sightseeing along with a scenic transfer. Start by meeting the Guest Representative at your cruise ship dock to board a courtesy shuttle for a 25-minute ride to Auke Bay boat harbor, followed by a tour on a new 49-passenger vessel.
Weather permitting, you'll enjoy views of Mendenhall Glacier during the cruise. As a public tour, there's a personalized feel without the crowds. The total duration includes necessary bathroom breaks and the short walk to the boat. Suitable footwear and layered clothing are advisable as weather on the water can change quickly.

Our whale watching trip with the Harv & Marv team was fantastic. Tess, our naturalist, shared numerous interesting facts and engaging stories. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to go whale watching.
Whale watching turned out to be an unexpectedly entertaining and informative adventure. Our captain guided us expertly to the best spots, ensuring we had an exceptional experience.
I wish I could award a thousand stars! It was an incredible day on the water with numerous whale sightings. Graham served as an outstanding guide, truly one of the best I’ve ever experienced.
It was an incredibly well-organized experience, and we were fortunate to see Orcas that approached us closely. We also spotted three Humpback whales, making us feel truly blessed.
This tour was absolutely fantastic! The boat was in excellent condition, featuring an upper deck and two lower viewing areas. The staff was very knowledgeable. I do suggest adding a sound system since the lack of a microphone made it difficult to hear at times.
The crew, consisting of Dale, Dylan, and Kaelynn, provided an excellent experience. They shared valuable information, and we were fortunate to observe whales bubble netting, another solitary whale, and sea lions.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience, spotting at least five whales. The captain and crew were accommodating, ensuring we had ample time to observe the whales at each location. Plenty of snacks and water were available. The Beacon, our vessel, was new and well-maintained, with clean restrooms. This outing was definitely worthwhile, and I highly recommend it. I think our captain was named Mac, and our naturalist was Kaelyn. It would have been nice to have a microphone on board.
Despite the chilly and rainy weather, we were able to spot three whales. It was simply stunning.
I highly recommend this tour. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We saw a great number of whales, which I really enjoyed.
This was an incredible experience! We witnessed bubble feeding whales, which is quite rare. We spent time with a group of five whales before moving on to see sea lions, more whales, and a bald eagle on the water. It was a beautiful, sunny day in Juneau, and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip!
