Rappelling on the glacier was an amazing experience, and the hike to get there was enjoyable as well. During our journey, we gained insights into the glacier's history and its scientific effects on the environment. This option surpassed the bus tour, and I'm happy I chose it. Shep was also a fantastic guide, full of knowledge.
This was an incredible experience. Sara proved to be an excellent guide. We repelled into a crevasse, and it was enjoyable from start to finish. The hike of over a mile to reach the glacier was also great, and I gained a lot of knowledge about glaciers.
This was a truly unique experience. Rappelling into a crevasse on the Athabasca Glacier is a rare opportunity. Our guide Sarah was fantastic, accommodating various age groups and fitness levels, ensuring everyone had a great time.
The trip was really enjoyable, and our guide shared a wealth of knowledge in an engaging manner. I would have rated it 5 stars based on the experience, but I deducted a star due to misleading advertising. The guide doesn’t take the group to spots where we could go beneath the ice, which is understandable, but it’s a disappointment that this wasn’t made clear in the description. Nonetheless, I would still recommend the tour.
A truly remarkable opportunity to witness one of nature's greatest wonders up close. Being lowered into a mill well to observe the inner workings of a melting glacier was absolutely incredible.
Simon provided a professional yet enjoyable experience, being truly knowledgeable. He offered useful tips on when to dress in layers and the best walking routes. I chose this company because they lower you into a crevice, and they certainly delivered. It was a fantastic experience overall.
Hiking the glacier with Eric was an incredible experience. His knowledge and patience were outstanding. We gained so much insight and feel fortunate to have had this opportunity.
This tour is a must for any traveler or hiker—definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I highly recommend it without reservation. Skip walking to the glacier’s edge on your own or taking the bus; just book this tour instead! Our guide Eric was excellent, providing informative insights, and walking on the glacier was far more fulfilling than anything we could have done solo or via bus.
Max and Rockaboo Mountain Adventures come highly recommended. I selected them for their focus on glaciology, which matched my passion. We arranged a private hike and repel into the Athabasca Glacier on August 23rd as a unique surprise for my son's 17th birthday. The communication with the team was excellent. Max was adventurous, attentive, and well-informed. Our experience was truly unique and surpassed our expectations, adding to our unforgettable Canadian Rockies trip. Thank you, Max!
I had a fantastic experience with guide Eric, who led us on an incredible trek to explore the glacier's dynamics. The scenery was stunning, and Eric's expertise added to the magic of the afternoon. He chose a route based on current ice conditions, allowing us to venture beyond the typical tourist paths and see underground rivers, basins, and erosion-created holes. I was captivated. At first, I was unsure about tackling the walk, but Eric adjusted the pace to suit our small group. I highly recommend relying on local guides; you won't regret it.
