Sunwapta Falls in Jasper — view 2
Sunwapta Falls is a striking waterfall located on the Sunwapta River, roughly 30 kilometres south of Jasper. The falls plummet 18 metres over a rocky ledge, creating a dramatic sight amidst the surrounding wilderness of the Canadian Rockies. The area is renowned for its rugged beauty, with dense forests and sweeping mountain vistas framing the cascades. The falls are best visited in late spring and early summer when the meltwater swells the river, resulting in a more powerful flow. A short walk from the parking area leads to viewing platforms that provide excellent vantage points. From here, you can also access trails that explore nearby landscapes, including the scenic Athabasca Falls.
