• Jaisalmer Fort, established in 1156 AD by Rajput ruler Jaisal, is the second oldest fort in Rajasthan and was situated at key trade routes, including the ancient Silk Road. The fort features a palace, Jain temples, and provides a view of the city, and it continues to be inhabited by 4,000 residents, which includes numerous houses, hotels, and restaurants. • Nathmal ki Haveli, constructed in the late 19th century, served as the residence of the Prime Minister. It is renowned for its stunning architecture and is regarded as the finest in Jaisalmer. The building's unique design was the result of the collaborative efforts of two brothers, Hathi and Lullu, who were jewelers by trade rather than architects. Each brother worked on different sides of the structure, resulting in symmetrical yet distinctive wings. The carvings on the Haveli were created based on descriptions from others, as the brothers never viewed them in person. • The affluent merchants of Jaisalmer created some of the most intricately designed homes. Patwon Ki Haveli, constructed from Jaisalmer sandstone, showcases decorative jaalis and elaborate façades. The exquisite stonework primarily adorns the exterior, reflecting wealth and status. Patwon-ki-Haveli, the largest and most elaborate of these, consists of five adjoining houses built in the early 19th century by five Jain brothers, who were the sons of Guman Chand, a trader in textiles and precious metals.
