• Mandir Palace, a significant landmark in the heritage city, served as the residence for Jaisalmer's rulers for over two centuries. It features intricate carvings, ornate balconies, and delicately designed screens that exhibit the finest local craftsmanship. The palace's standout feature is its tower, ‘Badal Vilas’, which is the tallest structure outside the hilltop city fort. • Tazia Tower, located in the Badal Palace complex, is a five-story structure that holds particular significance in Jaisalmer. It is a replica of the mausoleum of various Muslim imams, adorned with detailed carvings reflecting rich ancient artistry created from thermocol, wood, and colored papers. The Badal Palace, near the Amar Sagar Gate, has a cloud-like appearance with Tazia Tower rising from it. This tower differs significantly from typical Rajputana architecture, as it was constructed by Muslim craftsmen, symbolizing their cultural identity. • Nathmal Ji ki Haveli was built as a residence for Diwan Mohata Nathmal, the Prime Minister of Jaisalmer. Commissioned by Maharawal Beri Sal, the architects Hathi and Lulu were brothers who worked on different sections simultaneously. Due to the absence of instruments to ensure continuity, the final construction resulted in an irregular shape. • Kothari’s Patwa Haveli is recognized as one of Jaisalmer's finest and largest havelis, showcasing artistic work throughout its structure, including elegantly carved pillars and balconies (Jharokhas). The haveli contains lavishly decorated items imported from various countries, with its murals and interiors influenced by Rajput, Mughal, and Victorian architectural styles. • Constructed in 1815 by Salim Singh, the prime minister during Jaisalmer's capital status, Salim Singh Ki Haveli is notable for its unique architecture, which connects stones with iron rods instead of cement. The mansion is distinguished by its 38 intricately carved balconies and peacock-inspired design, making it one of the most ambitious constructions of its time, even attracting envy from rulers. • Jaisalmer Fort, located in the city of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, is considered one of the few "living forts" globally, as about one-fourth of the old city's population still resides within its walls. The fort has served as the city for most of its 800-year history. • Surya Gate is one of the four main entryways to the 12th-century Jaisalmer Fort. Located on Trikuta hill, the fort has gates named Akai, Surya, Ganesh, and Hawa. The design of the gate, constructed on a bend, reflects military strategy to strengthen defense against invasions and attacks from ancient war elephants. • The Jain Temples in Jaisalmer are exquisite treasures, holding both archaeological significance and religious importance. Dating from the 12th to 15th century, these temples feature intricate designs. • Gadisar Lake is a man-made reservoir that was historically the primary water source for Jaisalmer. Built by Raja Rawal Jaisal, the lake is surrounded by temples and ghats, providing a peaceful environment for relaxation or boating, offering visitors a serene experience. • The Desert Cultural Centre & Museum is an essential landmark showcasing local musical instruments, ancient coins and currency, traditional jewelry, hunting gear, historical displays of rulers, and artifacts from past armies. The venue hosts live puppet shows, is well-maintained by Jaisalmer tourism, and features rare coins reflecting the history of Jaisalmer and Rajasthan. • This collection of golden sandstone chhatris (cenotaphs) is situated in an old Brahmin memorial area and serves as a popular viewpoint for sunsets overlooking the fort. Access is from Ramgarh Road, across from the Himmatgarh Palace Hotel.
