• Constructed by Rawal Jaisal in 1156 AD, Jaisalmer Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site classified under the Hill Forts of Rajasthan. In the morning, visit this second oldest fort, also known as Sonar Quila or Sone ka Quila, with a guide who will provide detailed information, significance, and stories of the royal families. The fort features 99 bastions, with 92 built between 1633 and 1647, showcasing Islamic and Rajput architectural styles. • Patwa Haveli, or Kothari's Patwa Haveli, is among the most significant havelis in Jaisalmer. It is the first of its kind but consists of a group of five smaller havelis. Formerly owned by trader Guman Chand Patwa, these houses were built in the first 60 years of the 19th century and are also referred to as the “mansion of brocade merchants.” Currently, it serves as a museum displaying intricate carvings, furniture, and artwork. The Archaeological Survey of India and State art and craft department are located within the haveli. • After visiting the fort and havelis, continue to Gadisar Lake. Originally constructed by Raja Rawal Jaisal around 1400 AD and later refurbished by Maharawal Gadsi Singh, the lake is encircled by numerous temples and shrines. It includes a desert cultural center and a museum housing artifacts. Another notable feature is Tilon ki Pol, a two-story yellow sandstone gateway adorned with lattices and balconies. Boating is available here for an additional fee. • Explore the 200-year-old abandoned village of Kuldhara. Legend has it that the villagers fled one night due to the Diwan of Jaisalmer, leaving behind a curse that the area would never be resettled, with attempts to do so resulting in paranormal experiences. Visitors can walk through the remains of the village and enjoy panoramic views from the rooftops, which serve as an excellent spot for photography. • The journey from Kuldhara Village takes about 1-2 hours. Following your visit to the abandoned village, the tour continues as you explore the Thar Desert. The Sam Sand Dunes are recognized as one of the most authentic desert dune locations in India.
