Reviews
This cooking experience was truly exceptional. Carlos picked us up, and we enjoyed an extensive tour of the ZIHUA market, along with some last-minute shopping for our class. With Elsa and her daughter, we prepared hibiscus tea, guacamole, sopas, enchiladas, tamales, chile relleno, and taquitos, concluding with a delicious coconut candy dessert. There were plenty of beverages available, and we felt warmly welcomed in their home. Be ready to dive in, as they provide aprons so you don’t need to worry about your clothing. They also take photos for you while you’re busy cooking. We are excited to try the recipes at home, which they will send as well. It was a fun day that we highly recommend. You can book directly with Carlos or Elsa via Facebook under ‘zihua cooking class.’
Following pickup from the hotel, Carlos kicks off the experience with an insightful tour of the local market, which is a fantastic way to prepare for future shopping. After choosing fresh ingredients, the cooking class takes place in their private home. This class is truly unique and tailored to your dietary preferences, interests, and culinary goals. It was an exceptional day, deserving of a perfect score.
Everything was perfect and beautiful. The food was delicious, and everyone was cooking and enjoying themselves. This experience is definitely something you should not miss.
Carlos and Elsa were incredibly warm and inviting hosts, making for an exceptional experience. The market tour was enjoyable, and learning how to prepare Mexican dishes in their home was truly top-notch.
This experience was fantastic, striking the right balance between cooking participation and letting the hosts, Elsa and her family, handle the heavy tasks. Bring an appetite, as you prepare a lot of food. The schedule is well-timed, with a light brunch soon after arrival to ensure you're ready for the hearty lunch that follows. The market tour was a great way to witness local shopping habits and meet various vendors. Expect the whole experience to last about half a day, as we wrapped up around 1:30 PM.
Our experience in this cooking class was wonderful. Elsa and Carlos made excellent hosts, and Elsa along with her daughter guided us through preparing each dish, explaining how to handle every ingredient. I highly recommend this while in Zihuatanejo or Ixtapa.
Carlos and Elsa are fantastic hosts. The market tour was enjoyable and educational, with Carlos sharing insights about various foods and cultural aspects. Cooking with Elsa and her daughter was delightful; their explanations and tips were valuable, and Elsa even offered some advice for my upcoming event. This class is a lot of fun, whether you're passionate about cooking or just looking for a good time. Plus, my husband learned how to make guacamole!
Carlos and Elsa were fantastic hosts. The day began with Carlos picking us up from our Airbnb and taking us through a local market, allowing us to pick up a few last-minute ingredients while experiencing everyday life in Zihuatanejo. Next, we visited Elsa and Carlos's home, where Elsa guided us in preparing several traditional dishes like sopes, tamales, chili rellenos, enchiladas, and taquitos, along with fresh salsas and guacamole. The atmosphere was relaxed and hands-on, and Elsa proved to be an excellent teacher. Join this experience hungry, as there is plenty of food to enjoy by the end. It was a really enjoyable day, offering a great way to delve into authentic Mexican cooking. This experience comes highly recommended for those visiting Zihuatanejo.
