This tour stands out from typical small group waterfall excursions in Iceland due to a unique stop at a working sheep farm. For those intrigued by how farmers adapt to the challenging environment, this tour deserves a spot on your wish list. The farm has been maintained by a single family over generations, now run by a young couple who are charming and hardworking. They communicate well in English and are happy to share insights about their lives and farm, along with some delicious homemade treats. Their livestock are an integral part of their lifestyle, with some sheep appearing to live in the house. The waterfalls themselves are also breathtaking, though distinct from the major waterfalls seen elsewhere in Iceland. They consist of three parts as the water flows down the hillside, with the top falls being particularly stunning. Reaching them involves a lengthy, occasionally steep and slippery hike, or you can opt for a shorter trek to various scenic viewpoints. The setting within a long, narrow fjord provides amazing vistas from different angles around the falls. Our guide was an experienced local who handled the small bus and offered engaging commentary about the sights, along with the country's historical context. This was one of the more affordable excursions available from Isafjordur and definitely offers good value for the money.
I would definitely do this again. The guide was attentive, concerned about allowing us time for photos, and shared lots of important information about the area. Choosing a smaller tour with this company was certainly the right decision.
The tour was stunning, despite the rain and chill. Our guide was friendly and insightful, clearly showing a passion for his native Iceland.
The tour felt genuinely authentic to Iceland, with a very accommodating guide. It was a unique experience to visit her home and farm, and we saw plenty of sheep.
The guide was both friendly and well-informed, highlighting various farms along the way. The visit to the farm was enjoyable, and the waterfall was stunning.
The experience was definitely worthwhile. The location is fantastic, and it was enjoyable to interact with the local residents. Our guide was very friendly. The only downside was the struggle with the ship's internet, which made communication complicated.
The journey offered a nice mix of driving and walking. Suzie, our driver and guide, was outstanding due to her expertise and impressive driving skills. Her cheerful demeanor and passion for her work contributed to a wonderful day.
This tour of the Norwegian countryside was wonderful. We trekked to a stunning waterfall and later visited a local farm, where we enjoyed an array of homemade treats from the owners, including sweets, cheese, crackers, coffee, and tea—all of which were plentiful and tasty. The highlight of the experience was interacting with the animals; we had the chance to bottle-feed baby sheep and very eager goats. The farm owners were warm and welcoming. Our guide was personable and shared many insights about the region. After the tour, she provided the option to drop us in a nearby town or return directly to the ship. At the tour's start, the operators were easy to find right by the ship, and their communication beforehand was excellent.
We visited as part of a bus group from Isafjordur and found the waterfall to be quite impressive. The surrounding area offered breathtaking views. It was crowded, with over ten buses and long lines for the restrooms. The farm was nice, providing a hot drink and local marriage cake.
We had a great time on this tour. The waterfall was stunning, and a highlight was visiting a local farm where I fed baby sheep and larger goats. Our host offered a variety of snacks and drinks. Plus, our guide dropped us off in town for some shopping before we headed back to the ship.
