Hornstrandir Nature Reserve day hike from Ísafjörður

This full-day hike takes you from Ísafjörður to the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, with a round-trip hike to the abandoned settlement of Hesteyri. You will leave by boat in the morning, arriving at Aðalvík, then continue on foot roughly 11 kilometres through the wild, protected area.

The hike features a moderate elevation gain of about 300 metres and requires a good level of fitness. Once you reach Hesteyri, warm drinks and pancakes await you at the Doctors House Café before the return boat journey in the late afternoon. Pay attention to the terrain, as it's quite rough underfoot.
